I love this breakdown of 4 of the big 5 leagues in the USA (MLS wasn’t listed…but is growing fast!). Thanks for sharing Andrew!!! ————— Here’s the deal. This was, and remains, a central point in many debates I’ve had about why my cherished sport of basketball in France 🇫🇷, is so anemic in terms of revenue and business opportunities?! Simply put, it’s the lack of brand value and recognition. Then there’s the non existent Media / TV Rights (bad history of bad decisions, bad blood, etc.). Therefore, no brand value (or very little), hence no leverage for premium Media Rights. But Times Are A-Chang’n! Will the steady flow of talent to the NBA, past and present, returning to invest in the sport, eventually change this tragic circumstance ? Few people know that France is the second oldest country on the planet to recognise and play the game of basketball (1893, Rue de Trévise, Paris). So why the lag time in talent, business and growth around the game 🤔?! I’d love to get into it now, BOY would I love that. But, saying it’s complicated would be a grave injustice and understatement to all that have, and are affected, by this specific legacy. I promise everyone reading this, I’ll get into it, in detail. This is great and interesting data but I found myself thinking it was a little difficult to elicit my intended takeaway due to the chosen visual. Visuals can facilitate ease of understanding and draw the audience to the takeaway Naturally, I wanted to compare how the different revenue sources vary between leagues but multiple pie charts spread vertically make it a little cumbersome. I would have preferred stacked bar charts with the league on the x axis and revenue % on the Y axis (colored by revenue source). This would have more easily facilitated cross league comparisons on a straight horizontal visual path.

What do pro pickleballers and bull riders have in common? Their yearly earnings match Caitlin Clark’s. The WNBA's revenues far trail those of other major North American leagues. But Clark’s salary also lags behind professionals in niche sports like bowling, surfing and esports. The base salary for a contracted player in the Professional Pickleball Association is $75,000. The top five ranked players on the PPA Tour will average $1.5 million this year in prize money and payouts. Ten players in the Professional Bowlers Association made more last year than Clark’s rookie salary. One major difference between the WNBA and its counterparts across many other sports is that WNBA players earn a smaller fraction of league revenue. Read more: https://lnkd.in/g8j2bV3G

One of the main challenges faced by national federations and clubs competing in or organising CEV competitions is the restriction of product protected categories. The CEV holds the rights to several product categories, and even when CEV has no contractual obligations towards potential partners, these categories remain protected and may be released only a few weeks before the competition starts. This timing poses significant difficulties for national federations and clubs, as securing sponsors just weeks before a competition is highly challenging. To address this issue, my program proposes that protected categories should be released one year prior to the start of competition if the CEV has no contractual obligations. This change would provide national federations and clubs sufficient time to negotiate sponsorship contracts effectively. Additionally, the CEV would always retain the ability to negotiate non-exclusive deals if opportunities arise. Furthermore, an audit of sponsorship assets and a review of the commercial structure will be necessary before finalizing the key product categories. By implementing these changes, we aim to create a more flexible and supportive sponsorship environment, ultimately benefiting the growth and success of volleyball across Europe for National Federations, clubs and CEV. #Vote4Volleyball means #Growth4Volleyball! 🏐 👉 Check out my presidental programme at www.rokosikiric.eu

What is a rating system and how does it help your clients? The ranking system, first introduced for the professional tour in 1976, is a system by which players are placed on a list based on their achievements over the past two years. The rankings determine the seeding of players for tournaments, as well as qualifying for certain championships.
