By joining the #PortoClimatePact, CIIMAR becomes part of a movement aimed at transforming Porto into a national reference in #climateaction through a community of learning and mutual support towards #carbonneutrality. CIIMAR's responsibility policy is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda, and its Green Lab is already actively working to reduce the #ecologicalfootprint of the research centre. 🌍 Advancing Sustainability in the Mediterranean: 9th UfM Working Group on Environment Meeting  📅 29 January 2025 📍 Register here: https://lnkd.in/e4Kk3G2w    As part of the efforts to foster a green, circular, and inclusive economy in the Mediterranean, IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation is participating in the 9th Union for the Mediterranean Working Group on Environment Meeting, representing the Interreg Euro-MED Natural Heritage Mission. During the event, we will present our policy recommendations on coastal and marine restoration, supporting the efforts undertaken under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework Target 2 and the EU Nature Restoration Law. These recommendations aim to bridge high-level policies with actionable solutions for Mediterranean coastal and marine restoration. ✅ They highlight the role of subnational and regional stakeholders in implementing context-specific approaches ✅ They showcase practices and solutions from the Mission’s Thematic Projects and associated partners. Key topics on the agenda include the outcomes of COP 2024 and their relevance to Mediterranean sustainability, innovative environmental initiatives aimed at natural resource restoration, and progress on the 2030 GreenerMed Agenda. We're delighted that Sport England have launched #EveryMove, their new sustainability strategy and action plan, to help support the sport and physical activity sector respond to climate change. We wholeheartedly support the Every Move strategy. The Global Nature Positive Summit, co-hosted by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water in collaboration with the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water was a landmark event attended by around 1,000 delegates including international Ministers, environmental policy experts, Indigenous representatives and investors.  Held at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), the Summit successfully brought together global leaders from government, corporate sectors, research, and environmental institutions to address biodiversity loss and advance sustainability goals.     By hosting the Global Nature Positive Summit #Sydney displayed its leadership in fostering sustainable practices and driving global progress toward a nature-positive future.
