Energy demand is on high rise due to the functionality of smart buildings and built environment and sources of these resources are running out such as fossil fuels and concerned humans have began to explore sustainable source, which is renewable energy. Renewable energy is energy that is generated from natural sources that are renewable and naturally replenished. sources are sunlight, wind, geothermal heat, tides, water, and various forms of biomass. On day 5 of our countdown, we are focusing on renewable energy. In April 2024 (Q1) more than half (50.9%) of the UK’s electricity came from renewable energy sources, with the majority generated by wind turbines, followed by bioenergy (Source: Uswitch). While this is progress, we still have a long way to go to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to meet government targets. Today is Zero Emission Day. Zero Emissions Day has been designed to give the world a break from fossil fuels and to raise awareness about the harm caused by carbon emissions. Thanks to the initiatives we have been taking towards zero emission, we achieved 100% renewable energy usage in our Spinning Facility. This means: ▪️95% of our purchased electricity is generated from renewable energy sources. ▪️40% of our total electricity consumption is renewable.
