This Mental Health Awareness Week, let's delve into the link between Sporting Heritage and overall health and wellbeing. The health and wellbeing agenda has a focus on increasing access and opportunities which increase physical and mental health and wellbeing. Sporting heritage activities wield significant influence in this realm, whether by promoting active participation in sports and recreational endeavours or by bolstering mental health initiatives and the broader wellbeing agenda. It's imperative to explore avenues for augmenting opportunities that support training and volunteering, thereby contributing to physical wellbeing through increased access to sports participation. Visit our website to access our presentation, which delves into the intricate relationship between sporting heritage, health, and wellbeing. Gain insights from case studies illustrating how the sector directly contributes to advancing this crucial agenda. Director, Global Sports Health Initiatives | Sports Programs & Partnerships | Transformational Leadership | LGBTIQA+ Advocate
Today, on 'World Mental Health Day,' we focus on 'Mental Health at Work' for 2024. Creating safe workplaces is crucial for well-being. In my role leading Movember's Global Sports Health Initiatives, we collaborate with leading sports organisations to help foster psychologically safe community sports environments. Our partnerships emphasise mental health awareness, help seeking, support seeking, and access to professional help, promoting whole community-driven efforts for mental health outcomes. Through community programs like 'Movember Ahead of the Game', designed for players, parents, coaches, and volunteers, we deliver on this whole community approach. We look to support the workplace environment to increase knowledge, normalise and support help seeking behaviour and encourage modelled of these behaviours by all those in the setting, all achieved through evidence based programming and localised implementation. This World Mental Health Day, let's continue to empower communities to strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of community sports workplaces. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAtWork #CommunitySport #Movember #SportsHealth #movemberaheadofthegame

This year Mental Health Awareness Week is taking place between Monday 13th of – Sunday 19th of May 2024. The main theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”. We recognise the importance of both physical and mental health and actively promote all of our Team to look after themselves, and each other. We have an open-door policy and encourage communication at all levels. It is good to talk and one of the big benefits of working as a Team, in the office environment, is that we can support one another, face to face. We centre HOP Team events around moving. Our annual ‘Walk-Run-Cycle’, which has been running for over 10 years, gives us all the opportunity to get outside and spend the afternoon together. We get some exercise in the fresh air, whilst interacting with our colleagues from different teams. We also regularly use the great outdoor spaces (Parks, Lawns and Gardens) near our office after work, for fun and games with food and beverages. Our staff are also provided with monthly ‘privilege’ days off, not taken from their holiday entitlement, in order to provide them with regular breaks from work, to reset and hopefully move about! We also provide a Health Plan for our Team members, which gives them access to healthcare professionals, both physical and mental, and reimburses some of their annual healthcare costs. This promotes us all to maintain both our mind and bodies, to help develop a healthier, happier and more productive Team! #mentalhealthawarenessweek2024 #mentalhealth #engineering #structuralengineering #civilengineering #marineengineering

Research by the Mental Health Foundation identified that more than a third of UK adults find it challenging to find time for movement, and some face barriers due to financial strain and inequality. Moving our bodies is just as important for our mental health, as it is for our physical health and shouldn’t be a luxury. Here are some of the ways we support our employees in getting active: 🏋️ Discounted memberships or offers at gyms and leisure centres across the UK. 🧘 Burnalong – our free health and wellbeing platform with over 30,000 classes. 🚴 The classic Cycle-to-Work scheme. 🤝 Our Aon Sports Teams 🏐⚽️🏈⛹️🏃🏓 💆 Global Wellbeing Days (next one is 17th May) Looking forward to seeing how our teams get up and get moving over the coming week! We are dedicated to supporting our employee’s wellbeing and mental health 24/7 365. We recognise the importance of continually talking about mental health, not just during initiatives such as Mental Health Awareness Week. Our 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme offers a free and confidential wellbeing service and 100s of our colleagues also volunteer as Mental Health First Aiders. #AonUK #LifeAtAon #MomentsForMovement #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

It’s #NationalMentalHealthWeek! Here at the County, we’re all about having fun while learning how to take care of our minds and bodies. We’ve got a ton of exciting activities going on this week, from a yoga class hosted by a third-party expert to leaving kind messages on our colleagues’ desks. Because who says #MentalHealthAwareness can’t be fun? We don’t just want to keep the fun to ourselves. We want to spread the word and encourage other employers to take action and prioritize their employees’ mental health. After all, it’s not just about talking the talk - it’s about walking the walk 🚶♀️. Here are just a few ways that we’ve helped our employees take care of their mental health ⬇ 👉 An in-house fitness studio & walking trails, complete with a water fountain and locker rooms, so our team can stay active and feel good about themselves. 👉 Our lunchroom is designed to be cozy and inviting, with all the amenities of a living room and a kitchen. Because who doesn’t feel better after a belly full of food and some friendly conversation? Oh, and weekly BBQ’s in the summertime! 👉 A #SocialCommittee that’s always coming up with fun activities, from cookie day to virtual bingo - they’re THE best. We’re all about creating a sense of a warm community and helping our team members build connections. 👉 And of course, we provide all sorts of support to our staff, from #PaidSickLeave to #PPD - because at the County, we believe that taking care of our employees is the first step to “taking care of business” 🎵. So, now we want to hear from you... what are you doing to prioritize your employee’s mental health? Let us know in the comments! ___________________________________ #RockyViewCounty #RockyView #AlbertaCanada
