♥Love this! --- a great message to kick off a Monday Morning! 🏈 Leadership isn’t about creating superstars—it’s about helping others be their best 🔥 After one of the most unexpected wins in college football, Northern Illinois University Coach Thomas Hammock reminded us all of a powerful lesson: "I don’t need you to be a superstar—I just need you to be at your best." This is a crucial mindset for any leader, whether you're on the field, in the boardroom, or leading a team to success. Great leaders cultivate environments where everyone is empowered to perform at their highest potential. Let’s remember that success is built on collective effort, persistence, and a belief in each other's capabilities. 💪 https://lnkd.in/gSxfRHes #Leadership #Teamwork #Coaching #Inspiration

1-2-3 Video/Connect: “Coach Carroll” Each week, I send my team one short video to watch, two quotes to consider, and three questions to reflect on. Here’s the 1-2-3 for this week: 📺 1 VIDEO Watch Pete Carroll communicate, encourage, and lead his team earlier this season: https://lnkd.in/eBk9UNmm 📢 2 QUOTES “The thing that always strikes me is how much power one person has. Everybody has so much power to help and to change if they just exercise it and get after it.” -Pete Carroll “Leadership isn't about being in charge; it's about taking care of those in your charge.” -Pete Carroll 🤔 3 QUESTIONS We usually think the job of a coach is to call the plays, but this video emphasizes the way he relates with others. I counted about 5 compliments and cheers to every 1 challenge or constructive feedback. 1️⃣ Would you be willing to try a 5:1 ratio with your co-workers or family today? 2️⃣ How often does fear of being awkward hold you back from speaking up with a compliment or crucial feedback? 3️⃣ Do you think Pete is just “naturally gifted” at coaching and engaging like this, or is it something that can be learned by anyone?

Well the English Premier League Season is over, and my beloved #Arsenal finished second. It came down to the last weekend of the season, and Manchester City won. Yesterday, as I watched listened to commentators talking about the run in, I was reminded of a powerful quote by Mia Hamm: “The vision of a champion is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion, when nobody else is looking.” But there’s more to this story. Beyond the field, in the realm of business and leadership, another luminary, C. S. Lewis, shared parallel wisdom for business leaders: “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” Integrity is that quiet force that drives us to uphold our values, even when the spotlight isn’t on us. It’s the compass that guides our actions, whether we’re scoring goals or making critical decisions in the boardroom. Parallels Between Champions and Leaders: · Champions give their all, not just during the game, but in every practice, every moment of preparation. They know that true greatness lies in consistency and unwavering effort. · Leaders, too, face moments when no one is watching. When the applause fades, and the spotlight dims, integrity steps forward. It’s about doing what’s right, regardless of external validation. Three Takeaways for Success: · Embrace the Grind: The most successful people in business understand that excellence requires sacrifice, and consistency. You must keep after it to succeed. · Stand Tall in Integrity: When faced with choices, remember Lewis’s words. Integrity isn’t situational; it’s a constant. Doing the right thing—even when no one is watching—defines who you are. · Lead by Example: Whether you’re a team captain, a sales leader, or have no management responsibility at all, your actions set the tone. Show others what it means to be a champion of integrity. What connections have you made between sports and leadership? Share your thoughts below! #ChampionMindset #IntegrityMatters #LeadershipLessons

SWEEP THE SHEDS: "Never be too big to do the small things that need to be done." Perennial rugby power: the New Zealand All Blacks - embodied this message. In fact, it was ingrained in their team culture... it's just what they do. After a massive win against rival Wales, where the All Blacks did everything right; their finest hour, winning 42-7: the team re-entered their locker room (what they call the shed). Drinks were flowing, high-class society & celebrities filled the room to celebrate arm-in-arm with the team that stormed the pitch. After the immediate celebration - the manager cleared the room and it was just the team. "This is when something happens you might not expect. Two of the senior players - one an international player of the year (twice) - each pick up a long-handled broom and begin to sweep the sheds. They brush the mud and the gauze into small piles in the corner." "While the country is still watching replays and schoolkids lie in bed dreaming of All Blacks' glory... the All Blacks themselves are tidying up after themselves." "Sweeping the sheds. Doing it properly. So no one else has to. Because no one looks after the All Blacks. The All Blacks look after themselves." "It's an example of personal discipline. It's not expecting somebody else to do your job for you. It teaches you not to expect things to be handed to you." "A collection of talented individuals without personal discipline will ultimately and inevitably fail. Character triumphs over talent." - Legacy, James Kerr Does your team have leaders that sweep the sheds? Will they roll up the sleeves when no one's watching & do the little things (that to an outsider - seems out of their pay grade). Acumen Talent Group knows how to find those leaders. Contact us today to make it happen. -Your HUNT for TALENT starts with ACUMEN-

Husband, father & friend. Passionate, Creative & Fearless Marketing Executive. Fractional CMO, Consultant & Coach. I leverage 20+ years of executive-level marketing experience to help you grow your business.
As some of you know, our son plays competitive hockey. Watching him transition into the age group (14u) where checking is not only allowed, but encouraged, has been eye-opening. It's a game-changer for many young players. Those who skate with their heads down, oblivious to their surroundings, often find themselves less effective on the ice. As some of you may know, young hockey players are constantly reminded to keep their heads up, primarily to avoid taking that big hit. But there's another crucial aspect to this skill. I've been coaching our son to understand that keeping his head up allows him to survey the ice and anticipate what's happening around him. When the puck comes his way, he's already prepared to make the right move. This philosophy isn't limited to the ice rink. It has a parallel in the business world. In today's fast-paced environment, it's imperative to keep your head up, constantly scanning your surroundings for potential opportunities. By staying proactive and being prepared to seize those opportunities as they arise, you can position yourself for success. Just like in hockey, in business, keeping your head up can make all the difference.

🌟 Elevate Success: Supporting Your Manager 🌟 Here is a recent article that I prepared in the hope that FourFourTwo and Football-Magazine would afford it some collaboration or further discussion and interviewing for a more thorough piece. In the dynamic world of football, success isn't just about the players on the pitch — it's about the leadership that's actually guiding them. Supporting your manager & coaching department isn't just a gesture; it's a strategic investment in long-term success. From fostering team cohesion to nurturing tactical innovation, backing your manager is key to achieving greatness on and off the pitch. As FK BODØ/GLIMT have recently demonstrated, patience mixed with consistency, discipline and vision can also yield success. #SupportYourManager #FootballSuccess #TeamUnity #TacticalInnovation #LeadershipMatters League Managers Association Scottish Football Association Hamilton Academical Football Club Limited John Rankin Darian Mackinnon Gerry Strain TransferRoom Football Careers
