Our sports med fellow, Ari Epstein, and I attended the yearly meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Chapter of the American College Of Sports Medicine (MARC-ACSM) Ari presented a complicated case of exertional heat stroke with subsequent HYPOthermia at an IRONMAN 70.3 Important discussion points included the failure of the rectal thermistor (not water resistant ) and the lack of an iSTAT due to CLIA problems For those who cover endurance / ultraendurance events: Do you have preferred brand of thermistor ? Have others had CLIA related restrictions for iSTAT use at sports events? Do we need to have legal clarification or advocacy for rule change on federal level ? Congrats Ari on a great discussion!

A new published study with high impact in the scientific journal Sports MDPI , "The Influence of Including Goalkeepers on the Intensity Demands of Walking Football Practice", in which CHRC researchers, Bruno Gonçalves and Hugo Folgado participated, reveals a new modality within football that ensures a low-impact, safe exercise that promotes interaction and cooperation in the older population, promoting a new non-pharmacological way of promoting health in the elderly through sport. 🤔Curious?
