Way to go Maeve! Thanks for sharing your talents, story and leadership.
As a child, Maeve Flanagan frequently visited Con Edison where her father worked for an impressive 46 years! Inspired by her father's love for the fiddle, Maeve continues to play today. In addition, her family's legacy extends further, her grandfather also dedicated 30 years to the company. Let's keep celebrating this remarkable Con Ed family heritage! #IrishHeritageMonth

At the intersection of celebrity influence and business education lies an incredible opportunity to reshape industries and increase access to leadership roles for Black and Brown communities. Celebrities like Denzel Washington and Alex Rodriguez, who were recently inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Alumni Hall of Fame, exemplify how high-profile individuals can impact communities, serve as role models, and drive change. Their journeys from Boys & Girls Club members to global icons highlight the influence of mentorship, opportunity, and community engagement in shaping successful leaders. For HBCU business schools, partnerships with celebrities and influential public figures provide a unique chance to inspire students, showcase diverse leadership, and open doors to industries that are often underrepresented. By leveraging the reach and impact of celebrities, HBCU business programs can: Elevate visibility of business education’s role in creating leaders across various industries. Foster partnerships that provide students with mentorship, internships, and leadership development opportunities. Increase access to high-ranking leadership roles for Black and Brown communities by breaking down barriers and building pipelines to success. In the same way that the Boys & Girls Clubs celebrate the achievements of their alumni, we believe that business schools can use the influence of celebrity partnerships to inspire, uplift, and prepare the next generation of business leaders. We are always looking for partners to help us support our business schools and their students with events, sponsorships, and more. Join us in building the future of business leadership at www.HBCUBusinessDeans.org. #HBCU #BusinessEducation #CelebrityInfluence #Leadership #DiverseLeaders #HBCUBusinessDeansRoundtable #Mentorship #FutureLeaders

When training new hires in records management, I always emphasize how subtlety important accurate preservation of history is. In this example, if we didn't have on record how diverse the 19th-century West was we'd only have Hollywood depictions to rely on. An unreliable narrator at best!
From Made by History: Black cowboys made up as much as a quarter of working ranch hands during late 19th century. That legacy has been obscured.

Those that know me well know how important I find being direct with someone. This is one of those times. So buckle in folks. It's time for a privilege check. To call these comments controversial is not only degrading but is also harmful. If you haven't heard his speech, go-give him clicks. Look at the audience both in that audience and beyond your screen. I know incredibly strong, talented, fierce women leaders who have managed to build successful careers and families for themselves simultaneously. I know women who chose not to grow families to include children because that brought them just as much joy as those who chose to have children. Maybe they were empowered to be who they wanted, to do who they want. I doubt they were told by a man who will make obscene amounts of money for kicking a ball a few hundred times a year (okay, a thousand times with practices) that they should lean into a vocation defined by the body parts they were born with. I've had men in my life so supportive of living in the current century where women can and likely need to work for their family to live comfortably. Leaders I've worked for have encouraged and supported me in every facet of my 10-year plan back when I actually had a long-term strategy I shared. I've also been asked in an interview how many children I plan to have. So please, if you don't know what to say or how to support women in careers, go learn how to have those conversations. Make the effort to be one of the many voices young women will need to hear in order to drown out this ignorance. You don't want "politics" on LinkedIn? Don't make a woman's body political.
Three-time Super Bowl champion Harrison Butker is facing backlash on social media after delivering a controversial commencement address to the graduating class of Benedictine College, a Catholic private liberal arts school in Kansas. During his speech, Butker suggested a woman’s most important and fulfilling role in life is that of a homemaker. Via CBS News #DEI
