The Maharashtra cabinet on Monday approved ₹747 crore to renovate and upgrade the divisional sports complex in Mankapur -Nagpur modeled after the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune. While I'm very enthusiastic about such projects, I have concerns based on the blueprint. Despite the grand scale of these initiatives, we might struggle to operationalize and manage them to even 40% efficiency. There is hardly a sports complex in India that runs at even 60% efficiency; most of them are just underutilized physical infrastructure. I understand that this may be more about political marketing than practicality. However, ₹747 crore is a substantial amount of funding. If used wisely, it could ensure 50 Olympic participants from Maharashtra for the LA 2028 Olympics. #sports #sportsbiz #india
