CEO of Eastwood Schools Dr. Michel A. Khoury recently met with Director General of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Mr. Olli-Pekka Heinonen in Geneva, Switzerland. Here, they spoke about the organization’s decision to take the IB Programme online and how this move will empower students from all over the world. How? By providing them with the knowledge, tools and skills required to secure a globally recognized qualification they may not have been able to access otherwise. The online IB route also gives student athletes the opportunity to continue training in their respective fields while having the flexibility and freedom to complete their schooling whenever and wherever suits them. Mr. Heinonen also discussed the need for a shift from traditional examination papers to more innovative online assessments. “It was a productive session,” Dr. Khoury commented. “It highlighted the opportunities IB schools will have in the future, specifically when collaborating with non-IB schools to share resources, help with teacher training and develop courses and content,” he continued. Working alongside International Baccalaureate (IBO) associations across the Middle East to support students who have been displaced due to conflict and disaster, Eastwood Global remains committed to delivering consistent education of the highest standards to young people everywhere. 🌍 To find out more about Eastwood Global and how it’s shaping the future of online education, visit https://eastwood.global or send an email to our Head of Admissions at Helen Roowalla (helen.roowalla@eastwood.global ✉️ ) #EastwoodGlobal #EastwoodSchools #InternationalBaccalaureate #IBschool #OnlineEducation #OnlineSchool #OnlineIB

Thank you, IHSAA for emphasizing the true value of high school sports. While the statistics on scholarships & professional careers reveal the small percentage of our interscholatic athletes that participate in college sports or pursue sport as a career, they underscore an essential truth: the primary goal of high school athletics is education & personal growth. The extension of the classroom concept is spot-on. Sports can be a great classroom to teach invaluable lessons like teamwork, discipline, resilience, & leadership—skills that are beneficial in all areas of life, not just on the field or court. We should celebrate the achievements of our student-athletes not only for their athleticism but for the character, their pursuit of excellence & the skills they develop through education based athletics & activities. Let's keep fostering an environment where the focus is on student development, ensuring that every student-athlete leaves high school better prepared for whatever path they choose, whether that leads to college sports, other careers, or personal fulfillment. #EducationFirst #StudentAthletes #LifeClassroom
What we see... It is important to remember that only about 2% of high school student-athletes nationwide receive scholarships to play in college. Of those, less than 1% go on to play professionally. At the IHSAA, high school sports are referred to as “the second classroom.” This phrase suggests that the education and life lessons learned through sports are intended to complement the academic education received at school, not replace it.

With many state schools increasingly cutting back on PE within their curriculum, it is important to note how integral it remains for most independent schools in the UK. https://lnkd.in/e4C-wNuJ #sports #education #ukschools

It's true! What many have long suspected has now been proven: university fortunes really are pegged to the success or failure of their local football club (at least when it comes to The Premier League). A new paper, "Scoring goals: The impact of English Premier League football teams on local university admissions", finds that on average, losing association with an #EPL team, for just one year after its relegation, significantly reduces a university’s undergraduate year-to-year admissions growth by 4-8 percent. "When a town or city loses its EPL team, it also loses some of the world’s attention," the authors write. The study, by colleagues at the University of Reading, was clearly close to home: Reading Football Club has bounced between the EPL and the next tier down in the Championship, and now down again to League One, over the last two decades (FYI David Watkins). Disclaimer: the study compared the admissions outcomes only of universities that have clear name association with the local Premier League team, including Aston Villa and Aston University, Hull City and the University of Hull. Based on the fortunes of the respective footballs teams, this study perhaps might help explain why The University of Bolton has applied to change its name to "The University of Greater Manchester" (FYI Chris Parr). Thankfully, based on the football, Newcastle University should be enjoying buoyant recruitment for meany seasons/terms to come (FYI Duncan Ross). The paper, by Carl Singleton, Adrian R. Bell, Andy Chung, James Reade, and Andrew Urquhart, is here: https://lnkd.in/eqt7edYr Thanks to Andrew for sharing. It's a funny old game. #nufc #PremierLeague #EPL #football

Being able to celebrate 2 trophies in past 2 seasons - has been a very cathartic process. FA Cup Derby win against the best club team on earth - VARdrid a distant second - honestly if they played in the PREM they would be fighting for a top 6 spot - this aint La Liga baby! And here is the hard truth im preparing myself for - Its going to take another 2+ seasons for us to compete for the top titles again - Prem & Champions. Its going to take time to clear the decks, examine the youth talent thoroughly and free the budget up to reinforce with absolute certainty - that will never allow what happened this season, on the injury front, to ever repeat. A MAN-U supporter from the mid 70's helps - patience is key. Hopefully the new partners/ownership have the love & appreciation for the club that will take a long term view on their investment. The whole region is going to be redeveloped including a new stadium - there will be sizeable ROI - but the blue-sky returns will always be sweeter and less chaotic with a team that is highly successful, playing exciting, free flowing football. My scouting (budget related) report is as follows KERKEZ CUNHA ONANA BRANTHWAITE ($?) All PREM proven. Keep all our fresh young talent 💯

Neglecting the Roots of Education NBA and NAAC accreditation processes combined for higher education is a positive step. However, it's crucial to remember that strong foundations are essential for building robust structures. Why the accreditation processes are not considering the school education. Sometimes I believe that We leave the roots but concentrate on flowers. We seem to be neglecting the roots while focusing on the flowers. It's time to give equal importance to school education in the accreditation process. A comprehensive framework that assesses both school and higher education is the need of the hour. #education #school #highereducation #accreditation #policy #investineducation #foundation #holisticdevelopment
