𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲, 𝗘𝗵? If 2024 has taught me anything, it’s this line. Let me explain. In late September, Champions of Europe and England (four titles in five years), Manchester City, hosted Arsenal. My beloved Arsenal have been the biggest competitor for City for the last two years. But City? They’ve polished one trophy after another. Then came that match at the Etihad. City scraped a draw with a last-minute equalizer, and Erling Haaland, the world’s best striker, had a choice: Grace or Disgrace. He chose the latter and channeled his inner school-boy-bully. After the result, he threw the ball at a defender’s head, dismissed an Arsenal teenager with, “Who even are you?” and even smirked at Arteta, Arsenal’s Manager with, “Stay Humble, Eh?” City hasn’t won a single game since then. Coincidence? Or Karma? Here's what happened since: ❌ Tottenham 2-1 Man City ❌ Bournemouth 2-1 Man City ❌ Sporting 4-1 Man City ❌ Brighton 2-1 Man City ❌ Man City 0-4 Tottenham ❕ Man City 3-3 Feyenoord ❌ Liverpool 2-0 Man City Humiliation, rinsed and repeated. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 This isn’t just football—it’s life. And business. We’ve all encountered the “Erling Haalands” in the corporate world: ❌The company that's too big for it's clients now ❌The industry leader who mocks a competitor’s pitch. ❌The team that stops innovating, convinced their throne is eternal. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗽: ✔️Let your work do the talking. ✔️Respect your clients, competitors, and colleagues. ✔️Stay grounded. Because when you’re at the top, the only direction left is down. 𝗦𝗼, 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Stay Humble, Eh? #PawarUp #LifeLessonsFromFootball

💰 The financial landscape of the English Premier League for the 2022/23 season reveals that AFC Bournemouth, Brentford FC, Brighton & Hove Albion FC, and Manchester City FC stand out as the only four clubs to achieve profitability during this period. 🔵 Manchester City Football Club’s stellar performance on the pitch translated into remarkable financial success, highlighted by a triumphant treble win in the UEFA Champions League, English Premier League, and FA Cup. This feat contributed to their substantial profits, soaring to an impressive €92 million net result. 📈 Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club emerged as the undisputed champion in the "profitability race", boasting a post-tax profit exceeding a staggering €141 million. A well-deserved 6th-place finish in the league, coupled with a commendable run to the FA Cup semi-finals, significantly bolstered the club's financial standing. This record result was also driven by the positive player trading performance of the Club (almost €140 million net profit on players’ disposals). 📉 Conversely, several clubs, including Aston Villa FC, Chelsea FC, Everton FC, Leicester City FC, and Southampton FC, encountered losses above the €100 million mark, with Tottenham Hotspur FC narrowly escaping this threshold with a deficit of €99.8 million. 📊 The collective post-tax loss incurred by EPL clubs for the 2022/23 season amounted to nearly €820 million, marking a notable increase from the previous year's figure of €670.5 million. #premierleague #mancity #brighton #football #footballfinance

Why I think Ruben Amorim would succeed at Manchester United Not a positive start to the new year for Manchester United supporters. The newly appointed Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim got a reality check very quickly. After a few decent results, including a derby day win at the Etihad, things turned sour after the Red Devils lost 4 games on the bounce. With United's next trip to Anfield almost certain to turn even worse, I can't even imagine what the atmosphere in the dressing room is like, especially with the situation involving Marcus Rashford. And yet, I can't help but think the former Sporting Lisbon manager is the right man to get the club out of this mess, definitely more likely than all of his predecessors. Because all United's managers post-Alex Ferguson were not suited to get the Manchester club out of the mess. David Moyes did an excellent job at Everton but a club of United's stature was too big for him. Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho, once great managers who shaped European football, had their best days behind them when they joined the club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the man responsible for the club's greatest night in 1999, did not have a good enough CV and in the end, turned out to be an accidental United manager. Erik ten Haag got the best out of Ajax but probably was more suited to manage a club with a better structure like the Amsterdam club. Now, for the first time post-Fergie, we have signed a manager who has been touted as the next best thing in football management. Amorim won Sporting Lisbon their first Primeira Liga Title in 19 years ahead of Porto and Benfica and was also linked with other big clubs like Liverpool. He is the tactical mastermind. He is the future. It's not going to be easy. There are many ifs. He needs support from the club. He needs the right players to implement his 3-4-3. The suits at the club need to prove that they aren't empty. But despite the doom and gloom, I am sure Amorim will do a much better job than previous managers at the club. All he needs is the fans' and management's backing.
