Impossible is only possible, when 2 things are true. You believe in yourself and you are given the opportunity to prove it. This impossible shot means very little at any other point during the game, It only became possible because of the amount of time remaining. Pretty sure you don’t expect to make that shot, nor do you practice for it, but you wont know if its possible to make unless you take the shot. Different approach + different attitude + belief in the plan = different result! Take Albie's (he's my youngest) football match yesterday for instance. A few weeks ago they lost to this same team (probably the best team in our league) 7-2. They battered us. Yesterday however we beat them 5-3. Just a few short weeks later. They were the exact same team with the exact same players - and so were we. A great example of how a different approach will give you a different result. We had a plan for the match in the days leading up to it. All the parents were on board with the plan and we all delivered the exact same message to our boys in the week leading up to the game. They had a clear consistent message on how to approach the match differently this time. We were prepared. We knew what to expect from the opposition (who's players are much bigger in size and stronger than ours) so we altered our approach to the game this time. It was a straightforward plan that the boys could understand (they are the Under 8s after all). The plan worked. The boys listened to + believed in it and delivered it almost to perfection. They displayed so much fight, heart, spirit and their attitude was incredible - BUT also their ability to listen, learn, work hard for each other and adapt really stood out. That's how we won the game yesterday and changed the narrative from last time. Different approach + different attitude + belief in the plan = different result. I'm sure we can all learn from this when it comes to our jobs. We're in control of things, nobody else.
