Today we remember tragedy—and celebrate heroes. More than 10,000 first responders, including firefighters, EMSs, law enforcement officers, and volunteers, rose up on September 11th, 2001 to rescue those caught in the crossfire of terrorism. On the anniversary of these events, we commemorate the men and women who died and the many more who live, to this day, with health conditions brought on by their heroic actions on that day. May your courage and sacrifice never be forgotten. #PatriotDay #NeverForget

First Responder Mental Health Advocate, Integration Coach, Chemical Dependency Counselor, After the Tones Drop Podcast Co-Host. Therapy and recovery for first responders. Mental health training for departments.
We know how it goes in the first responder world—drinking is practically a rite of passage. But what if it doesn’t have to be? What if you could dodge the hangovers, the regret, and the potential slide down a very slippery slope? That’s exactly what we’re getting into in our latest episode.
NEW EPISODE!! https://lnkd.in/g-yAN7XH In this episode of After the Tones Drop, Erin and Cinnamon take on a question from a hotline caller who is a newly minted 21-year-old firefighter who’s asking something we don’t hear often enough: “Should I even start drinking when I see what it does to everyone around me?” #drinkingdilemma #alcohol #substanceuse #substancemisuse #extremes #firstresponders #expectations #societalexpectations #boundaries

LinkedIn tends to be a pretty gentle and sanitised place where we use nice words, even when the world is burning. Truly, fuck that. Violence against womxn and children should make everyone angry enough to use angry fucking words. Enough empty, gentle words, enough placating. Enough death. Prevention isn’t as hard as our leaders pretend it to be, nor should there be a higher priority. While womxn and children everywhere suffer, and pencil pushers ponder sweet advocacy campaigns from ivory towers, perhaps should angrily take to the streets, withdraw all unpaid womxn’s labour and watch this whole neoliberal, capitalist hellhole crumble?? Maybe then law makers would pay attention and begin to take seriously the fact that our lives matter. Until leaders take notice, it’s up to us. If you think family violence isn’t happening to your friends and family, you’re wrong. Ask questions. Take notice. Act in any way you’re safe and able to.
We can and must end this national crisis together. https://bit.ly/3LeYTcQ [Alt: White and green text on a navy background: The death of women and children in family violence is preventable. There is an opportunity for all of us to reach out and start a conversation if we see or hear things that don’t feel right in relationships and families.]

If a community watch group with assistance from a few corrupt deputies is baiting arrests by portraying rape or kidnapping in homes would you call that entrapment? Now if those homes have young children in them would you consider that child abuse or endangerment? Would you agree this puts our good deputies at risk as well? Help stop the domestic terrorist network in Apple Valley California from endangering more children before someone gets injured or killed. #cbhomesource using these techniques to do illegal evictions in the #highdesert to avoid courts and rent control laws.

Gang feuds continue to drive rising levels of violence in #Jamaica, prompting the government to extend state of emergency measures and order curfews in several parishes in December, including Saint Andrew, Westmoreland, Saint James, Hanover, and Saint Elizabeth. Since 2019, ACLED records a progressive increase in gang-related violence in the country, with double the clashes between non-state armed groups and a 12% increase in violence targeting civilians involving gangs between 2022 and 2023.
