Last week, the Dallas City Council approved two major design contracts, marking significant progress in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center transformation: Gensler (one of our member companies) was awarded $25.1M to renovate the Dallas Memorial Auditorium, the future home of the WNBA Dallas Wings. KAI Enterprises received $22.2M to reimagine The Black Academy of Arts and Letters space. Both teams achieved impressive minority and women-owned business participation rates and will collaborate with project managers McKissack & McKissack and another one of our member companies Dikita Enterprises, Inc. “Straight Six Stu” – A True Legend on Site 👷🏼♂️ Every site has its heroes, and for us, one of the most remarkable is Stuart – or as we all affectionately call him, Straight Six Stuart. Stuart has an unmatched record, consistently achieving the highest NHBC mark of 6 on all his stage inspections. It’s not just a nickname; it’s a testament to his incredible knowledge, dedication, and commitment. He sets the bar high, and we’re all the better for it - “Anything Stu doesn’t know, ain’t worth knowing!” 🏆 What really sets Stuart apart is his energy that bounces off the entire site. His positivity when things get tough and sense drive make him a joy to work with. 🫡 Recently, Stuart’s hard work and leadership were rightfully recognised when he was made up to a ‘Black Hat’ by his managers at Roadform. I’ll be giving a talk on how manufacturers can leverage product sourcing platforms to drive spec activity, and how the specification community can best leverage ARCAT’s library of over 1000 manufacturers’ proprietary CSI 3-part Guide Specifications when they’re writing “Basis of Design” specs. Yes, for the most part, I’ll be “singing to the choir,” just as I have these past four years of doing this. Truly, hope to see you there.
