A man established a zoo and made the entrance fee $300 but no one went there. He reduced it to $200 but still no one came. He then reduced the fee to $10 but still people didn't come. Finally, he made it FREE entrance and soon, the zoo was filled with people. Then he quietly locked the gate of the zoo, set the lions free and made the exit fee $500 and everyone paid! ➡️ The moral of the story is: As you go about in life, beware of cheap or free offers, they can be terrible. No business is free! ——- ➡️ The second moral of the story is: People will buy when they have a problem they want fixed. When they want it fixed fast they will pay a high price. You can charge a lot more for your services when you understand what your clients pains are and learn how to effectively communicate that you have the solution. ✅ Perceived Value is everything. Just finished reading a doozy of an article [link in comments] from Jason Zweig at the The Wall Street Journal about an "advisor" who apparently worked with a nice couple using a confused definition of "in the client's best interests". Apparently, their advisor saw the couple's lottery winnings as a sure-fire way to Insurance Sales Agent of The Year, who valued his company's sales targets more than his client's financial future. That's a big no-no. This poor couple, holding nothing but their lottery winnings and a trusting heart, ended up getting fleeced by someone who valued his company's sales targets more than their financial future. This isn't the first time, and it certainly won't be the last, that well-meaning people will get bamboozled by a so-called "financial professional" more interested in boosting his company's sales figures than actually helping people. Before you swear off financial advisors altogether, hear me out. Not all advisors are out to gamble with your hard-earned cash (or lottery windfall). But stories like this serve as this reminder: choosing an advisor is like picking a long-term travel companion around the world. You wouldn't blindly pick a stranger at the bus stop, would you? ✅ Independence is key: An advisor should be working for YOU, not a company quota. ✅ Transparency is a must: “There is no fee’s on this Product” -- HUGE red flag. Surprises are for birthday parties, not your money. ✅ Your comfort matters: If you feel pressured or confused, wave goodbye and find someone who speaks your language. Second opinions can help.
