How many of you know the #conflict our #students, #teachers, #parents, and #administration face daily?
There are several but I want to highlight #reading today because of the challenges faced by all. This article looks at the quagmire in our largest school system in the US, New York and how to successfully integrate reading across a a diverse community of learners.
With three major options plus ancillary learning tools, navigating through these plus maintaining scores is a challenge that the leaders of other industries rarely encounter if ever.
So how can you get involved?
1.Read policy and support schools in your community.
2. Advocate for policy changes that align with the needs of our schools.
3. Give your talents, time, and tokens-Volunteer, offer services, and donate.
One or more of these three steps, afford you the opportunity to make a "power if ONE" change in your community that does not require more than you can give.
Reading is essential, and it is a requirement for the sustainability of our businesses and the entire ecosystem.
Not sure how to get involved?
📢 Go to your next school board meeting or
📢 Walk to a school in your neighborhood and ask this question:
How can I help?
Reflection: After leaving a school yesterday, where I read to a classroom of third graders, I realized that I had to be more than a parent to my autistic first grade son, I had to be a community parent and peer support for the amazing teachers of #k12 who work tirelessly with our #students so they succeed and make it into our businesses and #highered #classrooms.
"Are you coming back tomorrow?"
This future veterinarian and current anime artist looked at me with those bright 9 year old eyes and said:
"I hope so. I liked you being here."
🌟Lesson: We all have the ability to create #peaceful and #collaborative spaces and #workplaces that ignite #joy #love, #empathy and #positivity. Choose to take action over giving a reaction.
