One of our favorite events each year is the Independent Lodging Congress (ILC), an influential gathering that celebrates creativity, innovation, and excellence in the independent hospitality industry. The ILC is known for its Indie Awards, which recognize the best and brightest in the field, from groundbreaking hotel designs to exceptional culinary experiences. Over the years, we’ve been honored to win several prestigious Indie Awards, including Best New Indie Hotel (twice), Best New Hotel Design, and Best New Bar/Restaurant. These accolades are a testament to our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what independent hotels can offer. This year, we’re especially excited because our fearless leader, Ben Rafter, has been nominated for the 2024 Indie Rebel Award. This award is given to a trailblazer in the industry who embodies the spirit of innovation and leadership, challenging the status quo and inspiring others. Thank you to LODGING Magazine for including us in the "Sourcing for Sustainability" discussion. Check out an excerpt from their July-August issue below. "For Ben Rafter, CEO, Springboard Hospitality, procuring local products supports both the company’s ESG agenda and the indigenous feel of Springboard’s properties. 'We largely run independent hotels that are highly customized to their sense of place, and a lot of them are also leisure hotels. So, when someone goes to a place like Hawaii or Jackson Hole, they tend to want to experience those destinations more than a typical business traveler would, and that includes a much heavier emphasis, in our opinion, on wanting local products,' he explained. When possible, Springboard conveys the local origin of the products to guests, e.g., with tags on in-room amenities. 'Almost always, these products are going to cost more,' he said. 'But we think we get a return based on more loyal guests or guests willing to pay a little bit more.'"
