Portugal news - Portugal ranks 16th most Sustainable country in the world according to the Sustainable Development Report 2024. Portugal has achieved 4 Sustainable Development goals, namely: No Poverty, Affordable and Clean Energy, Gender Equality, and Sustainable Cities and Communities. However, the following goals remain big challenges: Zero Hunger, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water and Partnerships for the Goals. The ranking is a global assessment of the progress towards achieving all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Globally, none of the seventeen goals are expected to be achieved by 2030.

https://lnkd.in/dMc3NupR At a recent high-level forum, UN Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized the urgent need for global collaboration and innovative solutions to drive economic growth and sustainable development, especially in Arab countries and other developing regions. He highlighted six critical areas requiring action: addressing hunger, accelerating the transition to renewable energy, improving digital inclusion, enhancing education quality, creating decent jobs, and ensuring gender equality. Guterres stressed that achieving these goals demands substantial financial investments and systemic reforms to the global financial architecture. Furthermore, the UN General Assembly recently adopted a political declaration aimed at accelerating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This declaration includes support for an SDG Stimulus plan, proposing at least $500 billion annually to assist developing countries in overcoming financial challenges and advancing sustainable development
