Did you know that only 50.6% of U.S. adults with mental illness receive treatment each year? The numbers are even more concerning for Asian American adults. In 2022, just 36.1% of Asian American adults with a mental illness received treatment, making this community the least likely to access mental health care compared to other racial and ethnic groups in the U.S. Language barriers and a lack of culturally appropriate mental health service providers often prevent individuals from getting the care they need. It's crucial to address these disparities to ensure everyone has access to the support they deserve. #MentalHealth #Awareness #HealthcareDisparities #InclusiveCare #CasualtyConsultant #ShadesofMentalHealth #BebeMooreLegacy

Are you aware of the profound impact sexual violence can have on mental health? Here are 4 tips on how you can raise awareness about this critical issue: 👉 Share survivor stories: Amplify the voices of survivors by sharing their stories (with their consent), shedding light on the emotional toll of sexual violence. 👉 Educate others: Spread knowledge about the mental health consequences of sexual violence through informative posts, articles, and resources. 👉 Advocate for support services: Advocate for increased funding and access to mental health support services for survivors of sexual violence, ensuring they have the resources they need to heal. 👉 Teach consent: Start conversations about consent early, teaching young children about boundaries, respect, and consent to develop a culture where consent matters and sexual violence is prevented. Let's start the conversation and break the silence. As a dedicated domestic violence advocate, it’s crucial to highlight the profound impact of intimate partner violence (IPV) on various communities. This month, as we observe Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to emphasize the unique challenges faced by minority populations in the context of IPV. To support and provide continuity of care for these communities, I’ve attached some valuable resources that can aid in understanding and addressing their specific needs. Let’s work together to ensure that everyone has access to the support and care they deserve. #MinorityMentalHealth #DomesticViolenceAwareness #IPV #ContinuityOfCare #MentalHealthMatters

Mental health is a universal human right. Survivors of sexual violence in conflict deserve dignified, integrated, and quality care. When they can access the mental health services they deserve, survivors can regain personal agency and speak freely about their struggles and experiences. Their voices help break taboos and impunity around conflict-related sexual violence. On this #WorldMentalHealthDay, stand with survivors and break the stigma against conflict-related sexual violence. #October10 #OurRightsOurMinds #healthcareforall #holisticcare

A crucial aspect of #women'shealth that often goes unnoticed is the emotional well-being. Women are not just physically strong but emotionally resilient too. Did you know that: ➡️ in the last 5 years, adults accounted for 81% (113) of DV murder victims ➡️ approximately half (59) were female ➡️ Of the adult DV murder victims, 54% (61) were aged 18 to 49 ➡️ 46% (52) were aged 50 years or over. The trauma and fear experienced in abusive relationships can leave lasting scars on mental health, affecting self-esteem, confidence, and overall happiness. As a community, we need to come together and break the cycle of emotional distress caused by domestic violence. Let's support women by creating safe spaces, fostering empathy, and encouraging open conversations about mental health. Reach out to your friends, family, and neighbours, offering a listening ear and compassion. Let's ensure that women in our community know they are not alone and that there is help available. #Justice #Support #WomenEmpowerment #MentalHealthMatters #BreakTheSilence #SouthWestSydneyStrong More statistics ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g2J5aEdB See how we support you or someone you know experiencing DV ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gt683U89
