Hiring a project manager should save you money💰 There, I said it. I even had good ole Chatty help me illustrate an example calculation (link in the comments). You know what that ROI (return on investment) calculation doesn't show you? My network, my experience, and my team of trusted resources I lean on. My experience will save you money because I've probably come across a similar scenario before, and know how best to navigate it for and with you. How to save you time, money and having to ask for yet another extension to the launch date. Not to mention that anything involving custom development (for example, an integration built from scratch) will mean my (our) time is claimable under YOUR R&D claim. So if you have a software or technical project coming up or already going pear-shaped, let's chat about how I can save you money.

So you’re a Project Manager who’d like to be a Development Manager. I’d say 60/70% of the PM’s I speak to have aspirations of one day becoming a Development Manager. These roles are hugely competitive with DM’s looking for a promotion or sideways move, and half the PM market, architects and engineers also looking to transition across. So here are some things to consider and know to give yourself the best chance of landing that Development Manager role. ✅ Manage projects in the sector you want to be a Development Manager. If they develop residential towers and you’ve built warehouses they’re likely to go in the direction of PM’s or DM’s with that exposure. Even if you’re the cream of the crop, it’s risk mitigation on the part of the hiring manager. ✅ Consider working as a Project Manager for a Developer first so they can see your skills first hand. ✅ Don’t expect a large pay rise when your making the switch. Sometimes you need a sideways step to then move forward. ✅ Make sure you fully understand the role of a Development Manager and what that entails. All to often I speak to people who aren’t really sure what they’ll do, but just think they’ll get to make more decisions on project direction. ✅ lastly, make sure you can strongly articulate why you want to make the move. “I want to be the final decision maker on a project” is fair, but probably isn’t the direction you want to go in. #projectmanager #developmentmanager #propertydevelopment #realestate #construction #careermove #recruitment

💡Business Coach for Software Founders | Scaling Expert | Award-Winning in Strategy, Team Development & Profit Growth💡
Four signs when you should NOT Hire a Project manager 🚩 🚀 Optimize for Success: If you find yourself drowning in one-off custom projects and tasks, it's time to rethink your approach. Hiring a Project Manager might not be the solution if you're continuously delegating tasks. 🔧 Fix the Foundation: Focus on refining your business model. Solve a specific problem in a niche market and define your ideal customer clearly. Deliver consistent solutions in a scalable way to limit task variations and attract bigger projects. 🧠 Utilize Skills Wisely: Don't hire a Project Manager solely based on team size growth. PMs excel at managing project deliveries, not daily technical tasks. Consider hiring a Development Manager to oversee the technical aspects effectively. 🎯 Set Realistic Goals: Avoid burdening a Project Manager with unrealistic expectations. Expecting them to excel in quality management, people management, training, firefighting, and idea generation can overwhelm them. 🤝 Meaningful Hiring: Don't hire a Project Manager just to showcase an alternative version of yourself to clients. While it might boost your ego, long-term retention can be a challenge. Remember, each hire should align with your business needs and goals. Thoughtful decisions lead to a successful and harmonious team. #projectmnager #hiring #founder #softwarecompany
