Since 1972, the third Sunday of every June has been the day America recognizes its Fathers. Thinking about your father figure may bring to mind words like, ”strong”, “supportive”, “loving”, and “protective”. When I think about my father, I remember his strong work ethic, love of family, and respect for others. I also think back on all the “Dad” things I picked up from my father, like my impulse to fix things, my urge to mow the lawn whether it needs it or not, and the ritual trip to Home Depot every weekend. This Sunday, I hope you all can take a moment to reflect on the fond memories you have of your father and appreciate the man who made you who you are today! - John Stephens, Homeowner Support (HOST) Supervisor Pictured: A few of our HOST Spruce Dads with their children - Elias Martinez, Christian Alexander, and Hernan Rios

The sweet, sweet irony of bureaucracy wrapping its tentacles around "person-centered" planning, only to give it a bear hug so tight it squeezes out all the personhood. It's like going to a restaurant where you order a steak, and they serve you a picture of a steak and say, "Imagine the taste!" So much for savoring the real deal, right? Isn't it just adorable when a system claims to put you in the driver's seat, but then it turns out the car is on rails? You're thinking you're heading to Freedomville, but the next stop is Dictation Station. And who's conducting this train? Oh, just your friendly neighborhood planner, armed with a clipboard and a smile, subtly reminding you that they know the route to your happiness better than you do. And let's not forget the delightful catch-22 of "suggesting" your goals. It's like being on a game show where you can choose any prize behind the doors, but surprise, they all lead to the same storage closet filled with "one-size-fits-all" solutions. The pièce de résistance? The contract signed on your behalf. Because nothing screams "empowerment" like finding out someone else has penned your destiny while you were still reading the terms and conditions. It's a bit like those medieval marriages arranged from the cradle – except instead of marrying a prince, you're betrothed to a plan you didn't even flirt with. #ndis #dss #dhs #humanservices

Here are some ways to Celebrate today: Pick up the phone! Surprise your grandparents with a much-awaited phone conversation. Take your grandparents on an adventure. Plan a day doing their favorite things - one of which is probably spending time with you. Write a letter to your grandparents. Share with them the things you've been doing. They will read your letter over and over. Learn something from a grandparent. Have you always wanted to know how to make Grandma's pecan pie or catch a whopper from the river? Grandma or Grandpa will probably show you how. You only need to ask. Help them out. Clean out a flower bed. Take out the trash. Mow the lawn. Paint a room. Fix the internet. Run an errand. The list goes on. Take a photo. Sometimes we forget to capture moments with the people we love the most. Take a photo with your grandparent and make sure they get a copy. Speaking of photos, spend some time looking through old photos with your grandparents. Ask them questions about the people in them and record the information. Adopt a grandparent. As surprising as it may seem, there are some of our older generations who have no grandchildren. However, they still have love and wisdom to share.
NATIONAL GRANDPARENTS DAY On the Sunday following Labor Day, National Grandparents Day honors the love only grandparents can provide. #NationalGrandparentsDay Grandparents provide an abundance of wisdom. They also offer guidance and stability. We thank all of the grand parents we care for and our care team members that are grandparents!

My husband, Norm, sure has been consistent over the years. And consistency is the foundation in any endeavor we take on. It involves keeping a steady and reliable approach over time, in that endeavor. Whether in personal habits, our professional practices, or our personal relationships, consistency can help create a rhythm toward your goals. While the path can have its ups and downs, staying consistent, even in the face of those challenges, is key. Come to think about it, the same philosophy can sort of cross over into my love for helping others where building that trust is also key. If you want to talk about consistency and planning, pick up the phone and give me a call. #FirstCommand #WeHireLeaders #GetSquaredAway 01638 717700 lakane@firstcommand.com 4 Wallis Court James Carter Rd Mildenhall, Suffolk, IP28 7DD

“For those of us who powered through complicated relationships with fathers. For those of us who still struggle with what being a man means and what it doesn’t mean. Sean Murphy offers a beautiful, honest, and heart-rending portrait of what it means and could mean. But most importantly, he casts the brightest light on what it means to be human.” —Brian Broome Learn More at seanmurphy.net/tkom #ThisKindOfMan #ToxicMasculinity #Masculinity #Manhood #NewBook

🦞 Age is Just a Number: Meet the 104-Year-Old 'Lobster Lady' 🚤 Virginia Oliver, Maine's maritime marvel, just renewed her commercial lobster license at 104 years old. Why? Because retirement isn't in her vocabulary! Picture this: A centenarian rising at 3 AM, donning lipstick and earrings, to catch lobsters thrice a week. That's Virginia's life, and she wouldn't have it any other way. Her secret? "You've gotta keep living, you gotta keep working." Virginia's story isn't just about lobsters. It's about passion, purpose, and shattering age stereotypes. As we plan for our futures, perhaps we should ask: What's our equivalent of Virginia's lobster boat? Let's celebrate those who prove that life's adventures don't have an expiration date. #AgelessInspiration #LifelongPurpose #RetirementRedefined Source:
