Hi, I'm Karen Reyes. I'm the Director of HealthEquity for YWCA San Antonio. Hi, on Bedford Rodriguez and I'm the Deputy Director for South Texas Region at the Meadows Mental Policy Institute. Hi, I'm Andrew Bailey, Mayor, Studies Council and Metro Health. Hi, I'm Marissa Diaz and I am the people culture and Wellness manager for empowerhouse San Antonio and swimming a lot of times in society were like a culture rated to act in certain ways that are not necessarily beneficial to us professionally. To be quiet, to be meek to not. Like, say how cool we are. When I worked for another company, we had a mentorship program and I had asked my mentor, I was like, you know, how do I transition out of this line worker role into more of a leadership role? I want to move up. And he was just like, what you talking about? Just do it. Like I was like, OK, what is my problem exactly. He's just like, come on, you know, this is a man talking to me and like that's like that's the acculturation of males. And so binary just said, you know what? If he says just do it, that's what I'm going to do. And said that like, made all the difference. Me. So I really enjoyed our Allied discussion today. I thought that was so important because you know, initially coming into this leadership, you know we knew it was going to be about women's discussion, right, and how to lift up women and how to empower and how to encourage. But part of a bigger picture, right. And if we really, truly look going back to data or going back to the things, you really can flip it on its head and say what's the role of of our men with this too, right. And I thought it was really important that our speakers. The day they shared a lot. That said, this is where we see some gaps and we see a broken system of sorts, you know, for this. But here's how we're trying to to remedy this. And we want to lift women up and we want to be able to fill in those gaps that we know are are visibly missing. And so I did think that was really important, you know, to have that fireside chat today and that was a really good for me to hear that men are important too. But in the story of women, they know where they need to fit back in and what roles they need to. Feeling gaps they need to fill. Absolutely. They think that like growing up in America, it's a very individualistic society and kind of like looking out for #1. And I think we're so much stronger when we tend to work together and be in concert with each other with. Allowing for diversity to really show up in a beautiful way and helping others in. I loved that we had a person of color, a man of color and we had a white like presenting man who had acknowledged you know that he was cisgender and he was Christian and he kind of owned his impact but still came in in a very humble way and not really coming in as kind of an authority figure. But I could tell he was there to to learn from us as well. And so I think it's. According to to be able to learn from each other. Yeah. I really liked the fireside. The opening remarks from Ramon Vasquez was men need to own their role and some of the structural and rooted issues in where women find themselves within the statistics of the data that we were looking at. Right. And I thought that was very powerful because I think that that's an important piece of then being able to work with men allies to say. What is it? Where you get it right and how do we begin to change that? And some of the programs that he talked about, you know, the fatherhood campaign and the the campaign related to boys. And it was a surprise to me to see that on the agenda today. But after it was done, I was like, it makes total sense, right? We are powerful together as women that as a community with men and women, we are even more powerful. And so, yeah, it was really an insightful part of the agenda. For me that I didn't anticipate. So yeah, like we can't talk about the landscape of women. Right. Including. Yeah, right, right, right. I mean it it really was refreshing. I'm not gonna lie, I thought refreshing to be able to to have them in that space and be able to say, you know opening this these are the areas. But at the same time like, you know value at the voices around the table today that acknowledge like, hey, you know, there's there are some gaps in that. But I I thought it was a really great addition to the edge of the.
