I competed in the 24-hour Maine Summer Adventure Race last week. After the race, Adventure Racing Insider (a publication covering the sport) analyzed our team's nighttime navigation. As you'll see from the video, our team got wildly lost attacking CP 48 when we abandoned fact (i.e. our pace counts - a way of measuring distance when bushwhacking off trail) for what we perceived (houselights that looked much closer than they actually were). My not-so-earth-shattering lesson: We put a lot of thought into identifying a game plan. Don't be rattled by new information. Analyze new information like any other, giving it the weight it deserves, but always in the context of the bigger picture. Pivot when that new information changes the big picture. https://lnkd.in/emF9Bitf

Pacing is the most important element during long races. Outside elements will always present themselves and many times be out of your control. Focus on the pace you need to take today. #goalsetting #runningmindset #longtermgoals

People have been comparing Race Tapes SE2 to Drive to Survive. We'll take the compliment. (Tip of the 🎩 to Box To Box Films for setting the bar) But pump the brakes: we don't actually think it’s an accurate comparison. Here's why: ✅ Race Tapes combines Docuseries storylines with YouTube aesthetics. Everyone talks about Netflix, but anyone paying attention knows that YouTube and TikTok is where creative boundaries are being pushed and where people are taking big swings. ✅✅ Race Tapes embraces the true personality of the sport. You can't simply copy and paste a format into a sport or a sport into a format. If we had approached mountain biking with the (overly?) dramatized approach of Drive to Survive, our audience would have immediately sensed the inauthenticity. ✅✅✅ We have puppets 🦖 PROTIP - RaceTapes is a show that hardcore mountain bikers AND their non riding entourage can both enjoy. Massive shout out to: Thomas Kniewasser | David Cronolly | Carol Sales at Red Bull Media House for taking a giant leap into the unknown with us! 🙌🙌🙌 Made it this far? I help swimming coaches build race-winning skills in a systematic manner. Follow for posts about how to develop the most important skills as quickly and easily as possible.
If backstrokers can’t swim straight, they’re not going to swim fast. As even subtle errors can cause losses of speed, we want to make sure they’re locked in. And the faster swimmers want to go, the more likely it is they’re going to have a problem. In this set, we’re tackling the ability to swim straight on multiple fronts. As wonky arm recoveries can disrupt alignment, we’ll use clock drill to help swimmers feel and control where they’re entering the water. We’ll use paddle cap freestyle to make sure the head stays straight so swimmers stay straight. We’ll use double arm backstroke to cancel out the arms, allow swimmers to stay in line. And we’ll use head up backstroke to help them feel how the aggressive recoveries impact alignment. And they’ll do it all fast to help them learn how to make these skills happen at speed. If we want skills to show up in races, we have to approach the demands of racing. Here’s one way to make that happen with one really important skill.

A massive shout out to Dynamic Racing for their fantastic win at this years 2024 Ultimate 4x4 Challenge in Australia. What a result for the whole team and the months of prep and hard work that goes into being able to achieve the top spot.... All of us at RED Winches HQ send our congratulations for not only completing such and epic, tough event, over many many days, but for also taking the very hard earned top spot.... keep up the good work guys... your whole team are winners. RED Winches knows very much how a single component or product does not give you a podium finish. It's the skills of the team to get the very best out of each and every component, bringing them all together to work perfectly in harmony with each other…. this includes the soft squishy emotional humans in the team as well 😂 Without the passion, cohesion, team work and without doubt the ultimate reliability (with a pinch of good luck) you rarely secure podium finishes… With this in mind it would only be fair we mention our flagship winch the guys at Dynamic Racing have been running. There is a reason they run our winches..... The Hornet 2 is the go-to winch for battling long course events. It’s not just one of the best-engineered winches on the market in our eyes, it’s also one of the best priced. We love what we do, we love our engineering, and we certainly love seeing others enjoy our products, in their many different forms. To all, Keep kicking up the dust…… flicking the mud, and loving what you do… #dynamicracing #ultimate4x4challenge #RedWinches #hornet2 #oxmotors #roadrunner4x4 #redwinchesqueensland #4x4

Why Understanding Your Horse’s Personality Is Key to Show Jumping Success! You don’t need to worry about the complex math and meters—that’s for the course designer to handle! What you need to focus on is understanding your horse. 🐴 Are you riding a horse with lots of energy or one that’s a bit more laid-back? Take Zafira, for example—she's usually on the sleepier side but has excellent turns. However, she comes alive on competition day, so I plan my course accordingly. Whether it's navigating that pink jump or adjusting our strategy, it’s all about knowing your horse and playing to their strengths! 🏇💪 Did you know we have 30 books to help boost your riding and jumping skills? 📚✨ Check them out on our website: https://lnkd.in/g6dF5S6e #HorseRidingTips #EquestrianLife #HorseSelection #HorsebackRiding #CompetitionHorse #EquineSkills #RidingStyle #HorseTraining #EquestrianCommunity #PerfectMatch
