Key advantages of multi-token prediction include: 1. Improved Sample Efficiency: By predicting several tokens at each step, the model leverages training data more efficiently, which can be particularly beneficial as models grow larger. 2. Enhanced Performance on Complex Tasks: The technique shows marked improvements in tasks involving code and algorithmic reasoning. Models employing this method, such as a 13B parameter model, solve a significantly higher percentage of problems on benchmarks like HumanEval and MBPP compared to traditional next-token prediction models. 3. Increased Inference Speed: Models trained with multi-token prediction, particularly with a 4-token approach, can perform up to three times faster during inference, even when dealing with larger batch sizes. 4.
