Celebrating Rejections in this TOUGH market! 🎊 We are MBA students – of course, we document the process and everything has to be data-driven. The chance of my application being picked in the first round was 1.25%, and my response rate for LinkedIn messages was 10:1 (quality not guaranteed). I've changed my job search strategy more often than my Netflix password (and yes, we share)! Last Month, I had the pleasure of talking to a few amazing companies, only to get rejected after the final interview. It's hard to move on when you imagine yourself in the position. Late nights, endless applications, chasing referrals... and through it all, that nagging self-doubt creeps in: "Am I good enough? What am I doing wrong? Will I EVER get an internship? Here's what I've picked up along the way... 1. Keep at it:  No one loves job hunting, but do not stop applying and networking. If you have a dream job and aren't at it, try for it. If you're in a dream company and got laid off, your network can be a great help. One way to love something you hate is to make it a habit. 2. Your Journey is Unique: Someone might get a job after 12 weeks of trying, while others may get a job in 2 days. There's no one-size-fits-all here, so mix tried-and-true tactics with your own unique style. 3. Rejections are Horrible: It's okay to have a mini-meltdown, but don't let it get you down for too long. We're all so much more than our resumes. Get out there and do the things you love to boost that confidence back up! A huge shoutout to my incredible supervisors! I’m thrilled to share that I landed an internship at Morgan Stanley – a dream I’ve had since starting college. This isn’t just another run of the mill LinkedIn post celebrating a new job at a prestigious firm while looking over the challenges. Getting here wasn’t easy. Over the past year, I have faced rejections left and right, not just from top banking firms but also from big tech companies and startups. We often see posts celebrating success, but rarely do they highlight the struggles and failures along the way. For months, I applied to numerous internships and jobs, often sending out 10+ applications in a single day, only to face rejection after rejection. It was frustrating, especially when I knew I had the skills and was a great fit for these roles. A good friend, Pranshu Kaushal, suggested I try cold emailing. I wasn’t great at it initially, but I acknowledged my shortcomings and worked hard to improve. During this time, I also started building new projects, not just to enhance my resume, but because I genuinely enjoyed the process. I revamped my resume and began practicing on Leetcode for interview preparation, which I found surprisingly fun. Gradually, things began to turn around. I started hearing back from my cold emails, even received a paid internship offer from IIT - R, and began getting interview calls. After 100+ rejections, numerous unanswered emails, and being left on read by recruiters, I finally secured an internship. One of my favorite lines that perfectly encapsulates the post is, “Never stop never stopping.” I’m not here to give advice on how to land an internship. I’m no expert, and everyone’s path is unique. This might sound clichéd, but what I want to emphasize is that rejection is part of the process. If you’re facing setbacks, know that it’s okay, it means you’re trying. Keep pushing forward, and I promise you’ll get there. Just don’t stop! ―――― I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported me along the way. First a special thanks to Pranshu Kaushal for helping me improve my cold emailing game and guiding me through the job search process. I am deeply grateful to Mr. Sourav Roy sir for his invaluable teachings on crafting an outstanding resume. His insights helped me slice through ATS filters and receive positive feedback from hiring managers. I owe a big thank you to Mr. Rajnish Sinha sir for providing insights on acing interviews. His advice on the dos and don’ts, effective communication, and understanding interviewer psychology significantly improved my interview performance. I also want to thank Vaibhav Logar for his guidance on landing a job in a challenging market. My gratitude extends to Chris Piech and Stanford University's CIP team for including me in the CIP program. What areas do you want to explore further? Set personal and professional goals to keep you focused throughout your senior year. 6. **Network, Network, Network:** Attend career fairs, networking events, and alumni gatherings. These opportunities are not just for job hunting—they’re also great for building relationships that could benefit you down the road. 7. **Enjoy the Journey:** While preparing for the future is essential, don’t forget to enjoy your senior year. This is a special time, full of growth and new experiences; enjoy the journey. We’re excited to see all the amazing things you’ll accomplish in your final year and beyond.
