Behind every successful film, for sure there is a bunch of unexpected challenges. In my latest feature film, we faced a unique problem. Rather I’d call it a hiccup! The script, which we were in love with, was 12 minutes too long for the festival we had our eye on. We were stuck. What could we cut? We sat down, ate some pizza, and watched the whole movie while carefully analyzing scene by scene to see the lag that we could knock off. We looked for scenes that were repetitive, didn't move the story forward or felt out of place. We made tough decisions, cutting moments we genuinely loved. It was heartbreaking. But the result was worth it. The film was streamlined and more impactful. The lesson? Challenges are always not as simple as they seem; not necessarily complicated either! And there are no short cuts when you are conscious about the quality and the results! They're sometimes sparked by misunderstanding or miscommunication too! And the only way out? Communication. P.S:- So, what’s your recent challenge that turned into your biggest win?
