This year at Christmas, SRL has chosen to support Give Food, a UK charity that’s making a tangible difference by combining data with action to address local and structural food insecurity. Through their innovative approach, they can track and showcase the impact of donations in real terms. For example, the funds from SRL can: Deliver 1 to 1.1 tonnes of food and supplies and provide a detailed online dashboard showing the weight, number of items, and calories donated, along with maps of food bank locations receiving the supplies. Every penny counts. With 100% of donations going directly to food and supplies, their transparency and efficiency are helping make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. Let’s continue to work together to ensure no one goes hungry. #GiveFood #FoodInsecurity #Charity #MakingADifference

During our last community kitchen event, something remarkable happened. As we were distributing meals, we unexpectedly ran out of takeaway packs. Rushing to a nearby store to get more, we met Olamilekan a food vendor. Instead of accepting payment, Olamilekan chose to donate the packs to us. He was deeply moved by our efforts, something he had never seen in his community before, and wanted to be a part of it. Even if he was selling food , he didn’t feel uncomfortable about us giving out food around him. We salute Olamilekan’s generosity and his willingness to support his community. Now, imagine a world filled with more people like Olamilekan—where sharing and giving back are the norms, and everyone has enough to eat. This vision is within our reach, but it starts with each of us. Be like Olamilekan. Donate today, and together, we can make this a reality. #foodcliquesupport #sdg2030 #zerohunger #sdg2 #hungerheroes #endinghunger #foodsystem #charity #donation #socialimpact

We are thrilled to announce our "Keep It Going" scheme, designed to support local charity and community organisations whilst keeping usable items out of landfill. Informally, we’ve done this for many years, and the launch of this website has cemented our commitment. How It Works: 1. Our first priority is to complete high-level safety checks to ensure the items are suitable for re-use. We want to ensure that any donated items are functional and safe for their intended purpose. 2. Once we have completed our safety checks, we will list them on our website for authorised charities and community organisations to request. 3. We will deliver free of charge when we are next in the area between 8am to 4pm. If you are an organisation or know of an organization that can benefit, please complete our online registration form. Once registered you’ll be provided access to the website. https://lnkd.in/e3vXtWBn #KeepItGoing #CommunitySupport #ZeroWaste #Sustainability #Charity #LocalCommunities #EcoFriendly #ReduceReuseRecycle

I have 2 things for you to ponder: 1 - Last week I was helping welcome people to the Food Pantry for our Wednesday late afternoon/evening hours. In line were people who work in our community, coming after work to shop. I know this because they had uniforms and nametags from area businesses. Some had their kids with them, tired from a long day at school and/or day care. And everyone one of them depend on what is on these shelves to feed their families. 2 - Some of you might remember the panic you felt when you went to the grocery store early in the pandemic and found the thing that you needed unavailable. If you had to shop the food pantry and it was your only option because you were too short on cash from paying rent and all other life expenses to buy food and you got there and there wasn't much on the shelves - can you imagine the fear and panic? The good news is - that as a community - we can actually make it different. We can't change the dynamics that are causing people to need the pantry. (I don't have any tricks in my back pocket to change the economy, to change the housing shortage, to change the cost of day care or someone's income). But we can donate money to a food pantry or buy food to donate and fill shelves. That is in our collective power. I challenge you to to think of a way to make a difference today, and next week and the following week. Even if it's small, it will matter to someone. I know you all and you are a creative caring bunch. If you are looking for ideas or have ideas, your links are below <3
This is a photo of our pantry shelves at the end of a typical day. For over 40 years, we have provided food for people in our community without ever turning anyone away who met our eligibility requirements. For the first time in our history, we can no longer meet the need with our current resources. We have placed limits on how much food people can take, but we are still running out of food every week.We need your help to bridge the gap! The amount of money donated to food bank charities has increased by 50% year on year, according to our research. This increase comes at a critical time, as the latest official statistics from the government reveal that 3.3% of households used a food bank within the last year. The operational costs for these essential charities have also increased due to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. As a result, there is an urgent need for increased donations to ensure that they can continue to pay rent and to keep the lights on. Neil Heslop OBE, our Chief Executive, reflects on the community's response: “Even when times are tough, it’s heart-warming to see how people respond generously to support charities around the UK providing for more and more families. For those who can’t afford to give more, volunteering your time or donating goods is also a crucial way to help charities.” Read more: https://brnw.ch/21wJQhD #FoodBanks #Charities #Philanthropy

There are many ways to help hungry people, depending on your resources and location. Here are some ideas: 1. *Donate to food banks*: Food banks collect and distribute food to those in need. You can search for food banks in your area and donate non-perishable items or funds. 2. *Volunteer at a soup kitchen*: Soup kitchens provide meals for people who are struggling to afford food. You can volunteer your time to help serve meals or prepare food. 3. *Support food-related charities*: Consider donating to organizations that work to address hunger and food insecurity, such as Feeding America or the World Food Programme. 4. *Offer to buy groceries or meals*: If you know someone who is struggling to afford food, offer to buy them groceries or meals. 5. *Advocate for policies that address hunger*: You can contact your local representatives and express support for policies that address hunger
