In both instances the IDF was aware, according to some, of the provenance of the targets prior to engaging with lethal force. In both cases the IDF claims mistaken identities. Sharing an important report from the Combatting Terrorism Center (CTC) at the United States Military Academy at West Point, "Rising Threats to Public Officials: A Review of 10 Years of Federal Data." This study reveals a significant rise in ideologically motivated threats against public officials, with federal charges nearly doubling over the past decade. Ideologically motivated threats, driven by anti-government and identity-based extremism, now account for nearly half of these cases, threatening our democracy. As a proud US Navy veteran, I am deeply concerned about threats and harassment targeting public officials. These actions erode trust in our democratic processes and weaken the foundations of our republic. It is crucial that we take action to protect our democracy and prevent these threats. This week’s crime statistics for Nelson Mandela Bay reveal a slight decline in overall incidents, with the total falling from 89 to 87. This snapshot reflects the ongoing commitment by Atlas Security and the community to tackle crime effectively, highlighting both challenges and areas of success. The overall crime rate has decreased slightly, providing a glimpse of the impact of persistent security efforts across NMB.
