This league, traditionally the domain of independent clubs, has led to strong responses from Gold Coast Knights Football Club, Wynnum Wolves FC, Peninsula Power Football Club, Rochedale Rovers FC Inc Moreton City Excelsior Brisbane City Football Club and Lions Football Club (representing a majority of the league). These clubs have voiced serious concerns about Football Queensland’s dual role as both competition administrator and competitor, questioning the transparency and integrity of this decision-making process. In May 2024, Bromley Football Club won the National League Play-Off Final on penalties, securing promotion to the Football League for the first time in their 132-year history. With only 100 days between winning the final and their first-ever home game in the Football League, Bromley FC's EFL requirement to convert their artificial pitch to natural turf was a project that needed efficient and experienced management to meet the tight deadlines. The club appointed OBI Sports to fully tender and procure the project within two weeks, with a one-and-a-half-week construction timeline for Chappelow Sports Turf, followed by Jordans Sports Ground Solutions implementing the maintenance. Because the club had been using an artificial pitch for the past seven years, they needed a surface that could withstand the use of their men's and women's teams as well as London City Linonesses. The solution to this was to use a HERO Hybrid carpet, which was installed County Turf. We kicked off the year with a fantastic session at Port Adelaide Football Club, setting the tone for what promises to be an action-packed 2025. Our discussions At PORT centred around respect for women, domestic violence, drugs, alcohol, gambling, mental health, and the importance of looking after your teammates. These are complex and challenging topics, but the way the group engaged showed a real commitment to leadership both on and off the field. Thank you port !!! The boys were amazing . From there, we headed straight to Melbourne for the AFLPA Delegate Conference, where we tackled some of the most pressing issues in the game today. The AFLPA Delegate Conference brought together key representatives from across the league to explore the evolving challenges players face both on and off the field. Through engaging scenarios and real-world case studies, we delved into player leadership, fair treatment, and cultural influence within clubs. Discussions centred around respect, integrity, and ethical responsibility, covering topics such as player conduct, social media scrutiny, and balancing personal and professional obligations. We also unpacked critical issues surrounding AFL and AFLW relations, including disparities in facilities and player support. With one of our busiest months ahead, we’re gearing up for the AFL Induction Day next week, alongside a host of other key initiatives. This morning, Felipe Porto was a representative of the Social/Sports Project @p9_planvoos at the Meeting of Sports Leaders and Managers, held at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel in Santo André. International sports icons, Sports Secretaries from different Municipalities and Managers from different sports were present. The event was led by Federal Deputy Delegado da Cunha, who during his tenure governed important parliamentary amendments for sport (high performance and social). We continue working for the sport. Sport is a more practical and cheaper tool to reduce the number of people in hospitals and empty Brazil's prisons. We continue... #sport

Nottingham Forest recently hired former referee Mark Clattenberg as their 'referee analyst' which is apparently the first time an English team has done this. Without a job description to hand it's hard to understand exactly what he will be doing but Mark outlined it as: 'I will help in the understanding of how and why certain decisions are made, prepare pre-match packs on the officiating teams taking charge of their fixtures, and one of my other main aims will be improving the relationship between the club and the PGMOL.' It seems to have stirred a fair bit of criticism but my take fwiw: 1. We don't know the value of a new idea until someone tries it, so I appreciate the bravery to experiment and try something different 2. As a firm believer in the strategy of 'only is better than best', this is a good example in football and there aren't many in recent years 3. Role clarity, early wins and success definition will be obvious but important aspects of maximising this opportunity and getting org buy-in - the same with any new hire but especially one that many critics will be hoping fails!
