Thirteen Broward County Public Schools high schools are among the top public high schools in the nation, according to the annual rankings released this week by U.S. News & World Report, with Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy, Pompano Beach High School and McFatter Technical High School in the top 2.5% of all ranked schools in the country. In addition, Atlantic Technical High School and Cypress Bay High School ranked in the top 5%. These five schools are also recognized for being among the top 5% of high schools in Florida, with Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy ranking #2 in the state. Read more at bit.ly/3JDlfE4

Each year, the CCCAOE board gathers for its Board Retreat to strategize and plan for the next year. This year, we added a campus tour to our 3 days of work. This tour was at San Diego City College. We are energized by the fantastic hosts and guides, including Sasha Knox, Ed.D, Associate Dean of Strong Workforce and Career Education, who gave the board a comprehensive tour of many CTE programs and facilities. It was a great reminder of why we do this work. Orange County Region, we are coming to you in January 2025.   WHY THIS WORK MATTERS   As each college strives to meet workforce needs in the ever-changing landscape of education, CCCAOE brings stakeholders together to share best practices and advocate for excellence in career education throughout the state. Professional development is designed to help prepare members for future industry and education trends, and to improve student success and employment. Do you want to know why I am excited about this picture?  FRCC sent 12 folks to the Aspire conference.  But even more exciting the group attending was a mixture of administrators, faculty and Student Affairs professionals.  You heard that right Student Affairs is an intentional partner in our scheduling for student success effort at FRCC!  If you only build a course schedule siloed to academic affairs you are missing an important piece to the puzzle and I can guarantee that puzzle will never be complete without that missing piece.  Faculty and SA staff working intentionally together is the only way to build a schedule that actually works and leads to improved retention and completion rates!

#ConestogaConnections: Grand Erie District School Board and Conestoga College are launching Ontario’s first College-Within-a-School (CWAS) program at the Tollgate Technical Skills Centre (TTSC) in Brantford, starting September 2025. This partnership will provide Grand Erie students with hands-on training in trades and other in-demand fields, offering seamless pathways from high school to post-secondary education. By relocating programs from Brantford Airport to TTSC, this collaboration expands opportunities for students as well as addresses local workforce needs and supports economic growth.
