Note to job interviewers and rexruitment teams. I’ve been out of work for a short while but have endured a wide range of interview techniques. The worse one was a three stage process culminating in a presentation and interview where I was given the questions beforehand then pelted with loads of other questions. The feedback was I “didn’t answer the questions fully enough…” Wow! So, this company (and they aren’t alone) would rather employ someone who gives the right answers rather than someone who has worked there for 25 years previously? Sure, the recruiter needs to find out what the persons skills are but they need people who are going to fit in and do the job? In contrast, the company I was recruited by wanted to get to know me as a person and if I would fit into the company. Go figure who I’d rather work for? In other words, look at the person you are interviewing rather than interrogating someone to answer a bunch of questions.
