Answering this mornings post from our Regimental Chief Warrant Officer (RCWO) CW5 Willie Gadsden Jr, LSSMBB As we start this new week, let’s focus on what we can achieve together. Each of us brings unique strengths and skills that, when combined, make us unstoppable. Remember, every goal we set isn’t just an individual milestone; it’s part of the greater success we’re all working towards. Let’s approach this week with dedication, resilience, and a sense of unity. Lift each other up, celebrate the small wins, and don’t hesitate to lean on one another when challenges arise. The road ahead may have obstacles, but together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish. How did I get after this? While deployed to Europe supporting our European Allies and Partners is a benefit I get to see very closely. I had a great conversation with Polish Lieutenant on how partners within the Polish Div share understanding over a map and the benefit of having both digital and physical maps. 1st Cavalry Division, U.S. Army US Army Corps of Engineers 36th Engineer Brigade, U.S. Army #bustingcapsandmakingmaps #firsttoknowwithmaps #essayons #firstteam

Holistic Health and Fitness, or #H2F, embedded human performance teams will soon be fielded throughout the Total US Army. Embedded human performance teams have already been resourced for 111 Brigades across the active component, and beginning in both the Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve will begin in fiscal year 2026. While awaiting the human performance teams to get on the ground, you can begin implementing the tenets of #H2F now with resources found at: https://h2f.army.mil/

When it comes to suicide prevention training, every moment matters and every tool counts. While PowerPoint presentations and role-playing have their place, they often fall short of delivering the depth and empathy required for such critical issues. Enter immersive VR training: it doesn’t just teach you about suicide prevention; it puts you in the heart of real-life scenarios. By engaging with lifelike simulations, participants can experience the emotional nuances and pressures that come with these situations. This hands-on approach builds empathy and equips individuals with practical skills far beyond what slides and scripted role-plays can offer. In the realm of saving lives, why settle for less when you can be truly prepared? VR training isn’t just a step forward—it’s a leap towards more effective, impactful, and compassionate prevention strategies. #SuicidePrevention #VREducation #TrainingInnovation #EmpathyInAction United States Air Force Space Training and Readiness Command

If you are facilitating training that requires emotional intelligence and engagement this is the future. The ability to scale POI to the individual is achievable. Role playing is better than PowerPoints but still not engaging enough! Pumped to train the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army today! US Army #suicidepreventionmonth #suicideprevention

LTG Jensen, director of the Army National Guard and U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) #amsp alum, shares his thoughts on command and the role of the National Guard in today's Army. Kudos to a couple of our resident National Guardsmen Jesse Valles and Russ McKelvey for hosting a great #oparch show! A few thoughts that stuck with me: (1) Solve problems at your echelon. This means enabling the headquarters below you and understanding the mission of your higher headquarters to be at the right place, time and with the right capability to help them win. (2) Every component has a role (Active, Guard, Reserve). Be clear on expectations and invest the resources to ensure you get the right capabilities in the time you need them. (3) Mobilization - it's hard on paper, harder to imagine what it will be like in "real life". We won't know unless we rehearse. **Support Your Local Infantry Lieutenant: They Need You** In the heart of our military operations, there's a group often overlooked, facing challenges that test their mettle daily. These are our Infantry Lieutenants – the brave, young leaders who stand at the forefront of our nation's defense. Many of these Lieutenants are fresh out of training, thrust into the rigors of leadership with minimal experience. They are responsible for the lives of their soldiers, making split-second decisions under immense pressure. The weight on their shoulders is immense, and their journey is fraught with countless hurdles. Yet, these Lieutenants persevere. They lead with unwavering courage, often putting their troops' needs above their own. They navigate the chaos of the battlefield, ensuring the mission's success while safeguarding their soldiers' well-being. But they can't do it alone. These brave men and women need our support – emotionally, mentally, and materially. They need mentors to guide them, communities to stand by them, and resources to help them grow into the leaders they are destined to be. By supporting an Infantry Lieutenant, you are investing in the backbone of our military. You are ensuring that the next generation of leaders has the strength, resilience, and knowledge to protect our freedoms. Let's come together to lift up these unsung heroes. Reach out, lend a hand, and show them that we stand behind them, just as they stand on the front lines for us. Your support can make all the difference. Stay caffeinated Aerial Resupply Coffee®

I thoroughly enjoy this time of year at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College when our leadership discussions turn to situational understanding and decision-making. However, I'm reminded that U.S. Army doctrine is several decades behind the science. I'm increasingly convinced that U.S. Army doctrine's most wrongheaded and harmful idea is its framing of "art" versus "science" because it licenses evidence-free claims under the cover of "art." Another article for my "articles I need to write" file.

Part of the research I am conducting for my book on the 8th Infantry Regiment of the Illinois National Guard (370th Infantry Regiment) is on the history of the National Guard. This part of the research has been fascinating. From learning about the first three regiments formed during the colonial period to the various Militia and National Defense Acts that helped to shape the Guard into what it is today, it has truly been eye opening. If I may say so myself, it is one of the most interesting chapters in the book.
