St. John's Riverside Hospital’s Post

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Michael DiGiorno, a distinguished member of our medical staff since 2006, has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer for St. John's Riverside Hospital. This marks a significant milestone as Michael becomes the first physician to hold this role at St. John's. His extensive experience and deep understanding of our hospital's operations uniquely qualify him for this role. We all know Dr. DiGiorno as an outstanding nephrologist who has cared for our community for almost twenty years. He was instrumental in founding our medical education programs, including the first Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine residency programs in the history of Yonkers. Most recently, he has served as Medical Director of St. John's Medical Group (SJMG), overseeing the incredible growth of that practice, and has served as Vice President of Medical Operations since 2020. In his medical operations role, he has executed a restructuring of ancillary services and has been instrumental in strategically planning and achieving hospital goals. His training and experience have led him to successfully collaborate with nursing, physicians, administration, and support staff. Following his graduation from Fordham University, Michael started on his healthcare leadership track at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he served as Class President from 1998-2000. In that role, he worked with the administration to create new clinical rotation sites and modify the clinical clerkship experience. During his post-graduate training, he was a member of the medical center's Executive Committee. Subsequently, he completed an additional year as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine, receiving formal medical education and leadership training. He completed his Master's in Health Service Administration in 2021 and was awarded the Leadership Award for the Class of 2021. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Focused on the future, Michael is excited at the potential of St. John's. He will be overseeing all the upcoming renovation projects, including the completion of our Interventional Radiology Suite, continuing the expansion of the SJMG, the acquisition of new technology, including two new MRIs and CT Scan at Andrus and a new CT Scan at Dobbs Ferry, the expansion of the Emergency Room at Andrus, as well as developing opportunities to work with new partners. Please join us in congratulating and supporting Dr. DiGiorno in his new role.
