Senior Living Senior citizens should be honored for their invaluable contributions to society, their wisdom, experience, and the foundation they've laid for future generations. They often possess a wealth of knowledge and insight that can benefit society as a whole. Honoring them is a way to show appreciation for their lifetime of achievements and the role they continue to play in our communities. It's important to keep in touch with seniors during isolation. Regular calls, video chats, or even sending letters can make a big difference in combating loneliness. If possible, consider organizing virtual activities or helping them access online resources to stay engaged and connected. Senior living healthcare encompasses a range of services tailored to the needs of older adults, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation. It focuses on promoting health, independence, and quality of life for seniors. Creating joy in senior living involves fostering a sense of community, providing opportunities for engagement and fulfillment, and tailoring activities to individual interests and abilities. It's about promoting autonomy, dignity, and meaningful connections among residents. Vikas Rikhye Founder "Mere Aapne" www.vikasrikhye.com

Debunking Assisted Living Myths Assisted living often faces misconceptions that can cloud its true benefits. Let's debunk some common myths: Myth 1: Assisted Living Equals Nursing Homes Assisted living offers support with daily tasks, promoting independence, unlike nursing homes that provide skilled medical care. Myth 2: Only for the Seriously Ill Assisted living caters to diverse needs, from companionship to assistance, not solely serious health conditions. Myth 3: Loss of Independence Assisted living empowers independence by providing tailored support while preserving residents' autonomy. Myth 4: Isolation Contrary to belief, assisted living fosters socialization through activities, outings, and community engagement. Myth 5: Unaffordable While costs vary, financial assistance options and flexible pricing plans make assisted living accessible to many. Assisted living thrives as a supportive and vibrant community, dispelling these myths to offer a fulfilling lifestyle for seniors.

CEO & Co-Founder at Bella Groves | Creator & Co-Founder of Think Tank | Keynote Speaker | Senior Living Business Coach and Consultant | Level Up podcast host | McCombs MBA
I’m happy to be sharing this article from Senior Housing News and my friend and colleague, Loe Hornbuckle’s story of “Curated Care” at their Sage Oak communities. Interestingly, our approach at Bella Groves is concertedly different. In fact, Loe and I debated, discussed, and helped each other refine our own thinking on the subject during our recent Think Tank event. Their team is working to develop the proof that supporting PLWD in purposeful environments where they are interacting mostly with others of similar cognitive levels and abilities has lots of pros. Many are mentioned in this article. We happen to believe a different model. While I wouldn’t call it “blended” in an unintentional kind of way, we believe that not separating PLWD by their abilities or stage (done the right way) can actually lead to more empathy, destigmatization, and less fear of changes that will certainly come. Internally we refer to our methodology and philosophical approach as “Go With The F.L.O.W.” I actually think that having Sage Oak AND Bella Groves in the world - both with positive and intention focus on experimentation and a research mindset - is a very good thing. One size doesn’t fit all, and our organizations will both contribute equally to our complete understanding of dementia support. We don’t compete with place like Sage Oak. We cheer them on. We compete with stale, outdated and archaic views of memory care FACILITIES that regard people as their diagnosis; that only focus on ADLs; that allow an internalization of referring to memory care as “back there.” What do you think? Curated Care or Go With The Flow? No right or wrong answer here. Just a worthwhile and meaningful conversation.
