I am learning that public health is many things. It goes beyond disease surveillance and infectious disease; it is the people in front of you, and sometimes those people may be children with cerebral palsy, not needing medical treatment but a different kind of care, compassion and attention. This picture shows the versatility of public health especially in rural areas with a limited number of healthcare professionals and modern health facilities . Here i am captured providing physiotherapy to a child with cerebral palsy, this reflects my commitment to holistic well-being and the importance of addressing individual needs beyond clinical medical interventions. Because healthcare is not just about treating a medical condition; it's ensuring inclusiveness and enhancing the quality of life for these children. I am committed to creating an environment where every child, irrespective of their abilities, has the opportunity to thrive and participate fully in society. Because healthcare professionals are not only healers but we are advocates for societal well-being, promoting health in all its dimensions. A suggestion here could be for the recorder to provide an update on time, medication and dosage, but also asking the recorder to speak up if they see deviations from acceptable use. Yesterday's post celebrating National Interprofessional Healthcare Month highlighted a positive outcome from an emergency situation. Today, I want to shine a light on a more challenging dynamic. This illustration comes from "LIFE & DEATH: An Illustrated Case Study." It depicts a situation that many of my #IPE colleagues and others throughout the health professions have experienced. This interprofessional emergency medicine team, over an hour into life support to resuscitate a patient experiencing the cardiac effects of a medication overdose, agrees to cease their efforts with the input and support of the patient's spouse. Within the health professions, we frequently utilize life support as a teaching tool for interprofessional teamwork. I wonder how much we overlook the emotional impact such situations have on health professionals as we - rightly so to ensure competence - emphasize technical aspects associated with ACLS.
