why is raven like a writing desk? for female choir Virgo Vox Ensemble Palazzina Appiani, 11 novembre 2023 Why is a raven like a writing-desk? is the riddle that the Mad Hatter poses to the mixed group drinking tea in the woods, of which Alice happens to be a part. It happens in the VII chapter of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, one of the classics of fantasy literature that has had the greatest success in subsequent eras, giving rise to different transpositions and interpretations in different artistic languages. This composition takes inspiration from Lewis Carroll's masterpiece, setting some pieces to music and reinterpreting them. The piece is written for a choir of 6 female voices; the performance of the piece also requires the presence of an actress who plays the role of Alice. Each of the first voices represents a character in the story: Soprano I has the firm and determined character of the Queen of Hearts; Mezzo-soprano I is fearful and insecure like the King; and finally, Contralto I has the hasty and restless nature of the White Rabbit. What the music scene is proposing is an arbitrary trial, in which Alice is the defendant. why is raven like a writing desk? for female choir https://lnkd.in/desjHgpd

Topic: Faith is Now Song: "Raise a Hallelujah" by Bethel Music Scripture: "23 Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:23-24 (NIV) The Immediate Power of Faith: Mark 11:23-24 emphasizes the immediacy of faith. Faith is not a distant hope but a present reality. When we speak with unwavering belief, trusting in God's power, mountains move, and prayers are answered. The essence of faith lies in believing and receiving in the present moment. Mark 11:24 instructs us to believe that we have received what we ask for in prayer, acknowledging the power of faith to bring about immediate results. Prayer Point: Lord, teach us the power of faith in the present moment. May we grasp the truth that believing is receiving, and may our prayers align with unwavering trust in Your ability to act now. Action: Identify a specific need or prayer request. Pray with unwavering belief, declaring that you have received the answer in the present moment. Trust God for immediate results. Scripture for Further Reading: Hebrews 11:1 - "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Utilizing the Arts, specifically Dance as a vehicle to teach history and other core subjects or aspects of life, underlines much of my Dance Education curriculum. As an Educator in the Performing Arts, I have always taught from the understanding of what it means to be a “Griot”. . In short a Griot passes down the knowledge, stories and history of their tribe to the next generation. . Educators, Teachers, Performers, Choreographers, etc. must understand that there is history to pass along through poetry, music, visual art and of course DANCE… like those that came before us. The next generation of students and dancers are counting on it.

Inside Fateh Azzam's Baggage: Monologue and Forced Migration Palestinian playwright Fateh Samih Azzam's play Baggage is set in a crowded airport where a lone traveler re-enacts the Nakba (the Catastrophe) of 1948 and its consequences. The question of the relationship between monologue and dialogue is examined in the context of the emergence of the "political" in performance and especially in relation to Jon Erickson's contention that dialogues facilitate the representation of conflicting world views whereas monologues tend to entail "vehicles for the overarching world view of the playwright." This article contends that Baggage is not just a memory play for Palestinians, but that it also cries out for all those forced out of their homes into what Edward Saïd has called "the trauma of exile." The article also maintains that the universal appeal of plays like Baggage would be even more striking were the heavy use of politically-oriented symbolism counterbalanced by a more minimalist Beckett-like aestheticism. #forcedmigration #palestinianplays #palestinian #fatehazzam #baggage #theplay #memoryplay #elnakbah #thecatastrophe #ghassankanafani #arielsharon #monologue #dialogue #monodrama #soliloquy #jonerickson #samuelbeckett #aestheticism #noamchomsky #nicholaspagan https://lnkd.in/gd7DDihY

What are the criteria for the proper use of singing and music in liturgical celebrations? Since song and music are closely connected with liturgical action they must respect the following criteria. They should conform to Catholic doctrine in their texts, drawn preferably from Sacred Scripture and liturgical sources. They should be a beautiful expression of prayer. The music should be of a high quality. Song and music should encourage the participation of the liturgical assembly. They should express the cultural richness of the People of God and the sacred and solemn character of the celebration. "He who sings, prays twice" (Saint Augustine).
