On the occasion of today's Shift Workers Day, we would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of people who work in shift operations. 🕐🔄 At #Stabilus, we also have colleagues in various global locations who work around the clock to ensure that our production runs smoothly and making motion control safe and easy each and every day. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce Dominik Braun. He works as a shift supervisor in Koblenz and has answered a few questions we asked about his work. 💬 ➡️ In which area do you work? “I'm working in DESM (maintenance) as a shift supervisor and VEFK for the company's electricians since September 2023. But I also worked as a maintenance technician in shift operation before.” ➡️ How do you experience shift work? “To me shift work offers flexibility, but it is also challenging” ➡️ What advantages do you see in shift work? “The advantages of shift work are that you can plan your private appointments better without taking any leave. My wife can also attend appointments in the morning and I can look after our daughter if I have a late shift, for example. It sometimes requires some compromises, but overall it's quite manageable.” With today's topic in mind: Thanks to Dominik and to all shift workers worldwide - not just today, but every day! 🙏 #YourMotionOurSolution #MotionControl #ShiftWorkDay

Have you ever wondered what a morning looks like for a technician? Meet Darren, he's a multi-skilled technician in our Responsive Repairs team. Here's what he says about a typical morning at Havebury. "In this role, flexibility is key, as no two jobs are the same, so I must have tools and parts for different repair jobs. My scheduler releases the jobs for the day to me first thing in the morning so I can quickly glance over where I am and what jobs need to be completed. I also take special notice of any specific requests, such as before midday or avoiding the school run times, to ensure I fit my day around these requirements. My days vary; some days, I have a full day of inspections, where a resident has reported an issue, and I go and find out more about the job. If it’s an issue I can fix there and then I will do it. This saves the resident the inconvenience of a follow-up appointment. Before each appointment, I notify the resident that I am on my way. If they don’t answer, I will still head to their home. When I get to a resident’s home, I will look to understand the reported repair fully. I will then explain my planned solution and log the details on our system. In the case of an inspection, if I can perform the repair there and then, I often have what I need in my van, but when I don’t, I will explain this to the residents and let them know the next steps. After I have completed the repair, I will inform the resident what I have done and make sure they are happy, and I will update our system, which will close off the job. If I have used parts from the van, I will make a note to replenish the stock at the next opportunity. I am then off to the next repair or inspection. What I love about my role is its unpredictability and the immense job satisfaction it brings. I am dedicated to assisting residents in their homes, including looking at any other repairs they may have to see if I can help". The Importance of Reporting Safety Incidents As a blade technician in the wind industry, safety is always my top priority. Reporting safety incidents, no matter how minor they may seem, is crucial for several reasons: 1. Personal Growth: By acknowledging and learning from incidents, we can better understand the risks involved in our work. This awareness helps us develop better safety practices and avoid repeating mistakes. 2. Protecting Coworkers: Sharing incident reports ensures that our colleagues are aware of potential hazards. This collective knowledge helps create a safer work environment for everyone. 3. Improving the Company: Incident reports provide valuable data that companies can use to identify patterns and areas for improvement. This continuous feedback loop helps organizations refine their safety protocols and create a culture of safety. Let’s all commit to reporting and learning from every incident to keep ourselves and our teams safe. Together, we can create a safer and more productive workplace. Your family depends on your safety! #SafetyFirst #WorkplaceSafety #WindIndustry #ContinuousImprovement

🚧👷🏼The Power of Teamwork: Operator & Dirt Technician in Sync🦺🚧 In our line of work, success isn’t just about the equipment we use; it’s about how well our team works together. The relationship between a machine operator and a dirt technician is a perfect example of teamwork in action. To get the job done right, they need to move in perfect sync—communicating, adapting, and anticipating each other’s next move. It’s this seamless flow that turns a challenging project into a job well done. The operator relies on precision and control, while the dirt technician’s keen eye and hands-on approach guide the way. When these roles come together like clockwork, that’s when we see true progress on the job site. Teamwork isn’t just a skill; it’s the force that drives everything we do at Phillips Skid Steering. We know that when our crew is in sync, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish! #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #MachineOperator #DirtTechnician #ConstructionCrew #PhillipsSkidSteering #CentralTexasProjects #BuildingTexas #HeavyEquipment #ConstructionLife #LandDevelopment #ProjectSuccess #JobsiteSynergy #TexasContractors

WHY NOT PUT ON A SAFETY HAIRNESS As an elevator technician, why do you refuse to put on a safety hairness while undergoing heavy lifting, don’t you know safety harness is to prevent falls from height. Falls are a leading cause of serious injuries and fatalities in the workplace, especially for the nature of jobs we do. Using safety harnesses demonstrates a commitment to professional responsibility and safety standards, which is important for the reputation and credibility of both the technician and their employer. I have heard series of complaints from ignorant technician undergoing heavy lifting during installation, saying the safety hairness is too bulky and doesn’t allow them perform their task’s effectively. It is best to know that the use of a safety harness is a critical component of working safely at height, protecting the worker from falls, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a safe and productive work environment. #elevatorman #safety #standard #elevator #kit #country #regulation

Escape the vicious cycle of reactive maintenance: less downtime, less work, lower costs and less stress
The productivity of most maintenance teams is simply terrible. If you look at the typical day of a maintenance technician… You’ll see just how full of unproductive work it really is— →Finding tools →Waiting on permits →Travel to / from site →Having to organise lifting / rigging →Waiting on isolation or de-isolation →Locating additional spares / materials →Having to find another trade to support →Having to organise access e.g. scaffolding Do any of these sound familiar? Let’s be clear: in the vast majority of cases, your technicians aren’t slacking. You’ve just made it too hard to get work done efficiently. If you look at the timeline in this video, you’ll see that your technicians are very busy. But they’re not productive. They only got a wrench time of 30%, which is pretty much average across the industry. All those delays come about because this was a reactive environment that did not run an effective planning and scheduling process. So, if you want your team to do more productive work… You need to implement or significantly improve your maintenance planning & scheduling process. Want to fix your planning & scheduling and improve productivity? You need to train your team! Check out our online training course to get started.
