Getting turned down for a job because of my work history is hilarious. Yes, I've moved around a bunch because mediocre is not good enough for me, or the loan officers I had. This is not a bad thing! Can you imagine staying with a company that you are hesitant to submit loans through because you're afraid to lose MORE referral partners? Can you imagine staying at a "direct lender" whose underwriters couldn't get a loan closed to save their lives? Can you imagine staying at a sinking ship, when you see the writing on the wall, just to say you made it to the bitter end? Staying at a company a set period of time is not an expression of loyalty. It doesn't mean you're a better person. It doesn't shout to the world that you're stable or solid or competent. If anything, it tells me you're boring and have likely never stood up for yourself. Here's an excerpt from an email from a former colleague. We left the same company in quick succession. Did everyone else leave? No. Some people stayed and put up with a very unhealthy and unproductive environment. "Funny you say that, bc when I did my employment contract, I made M to commit to giving me a 1 year override on production for any LO I brought over, bc I have a ton of contacts in the industry. I thought I’d be recruiting like crazy. I had no idea that I wouldn’t refer my worst enemy to that place and still sleep good at night!" So who's crazy? The ones who don't speak up, don't make moves, and don't take action to improve their situation? Or the ones who stay? #hiring #JobHunting #JobSearch #mortgage #lending
