'Consumption is Conversion' Because attention is the currency of time And if information is food for the brain, and we are what we eat, then distribution is the JTBD. So I measure Net Consumption per Net New Minute of Content That is, for every new minute of content OOH Insider creates, answering the question of - how much consumption was there? Because solely measuring downloads or listens is a fool's errand and doesn't tell the whole story. In October of 2023, on the first measure of this metric, I found that for every 1 new minute of content I created that it generated 76 Minutes of Consumption Meaning that every 30-minute episode was generating 38 hours of consumption. That was then, this is now... March 2024: Every 1 new minute of content created generates 409 minutes of consumption 🤯 Meaning that... Every 30-minute episode generates 204.5 hours of consumption. That's all socials, all short-form video clips, all consumption. And frankly? It's a very conservative proxy. We are the heartbeat of OOH, regardless of what the incumbent echo chamber is holding onto 💔

Time is money. This year a 30 second Super Bowl ad cost upwards of $7M. That’s a very expensive 30 seconds. Professional services time is expensive too. The top billing professionals at leading consultancies, law firms, and agencies bill upwards of $1,000 an hour. For these top hourly billing professionals, spending 2 hours a week preparing timesheets translates to $100k per year in administrative burden. That means the top firms, with >1,000 employees, are spending $100M per year on timesheets. TimeSentry reduces this cost by 90%+ The top 10 professional services firms in the country represent a $1B+ market opportunity. But they are only a fraction of the market. 20 million people in the US bill or track time by the hour. If you are one of them, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch today to learn how we can save you time and money, simplifying your timesheet and turbocharging your productivity with TimeSentry AI. https://lnkd.in/enxD3jEh

Today our client Northwestern University Medill School and my long-time mentor Tim Franklin released a survey of about 1,000 people on the state of local news in Chicago. The most stunning piece of information for me: ➡ A majority of those surveyed (54%) believe local news outlets are doing “somewhat well” financially. ➡ Another 17% said they are doing “very well,” meaning that in total, 71% of respondents don’t know the news business is in crisis. My take-away as a journalist turned marketer: 1. Be more transparent about your staffing levels and financials. The Chicago Tribune shed 82% of its newsroom staff from 2006 to 2022, Mark Jacob reported in a companion piece to the report. 2. Tie increased subscription rates, new subscribers and/or donations to specific newsroom hires. ie) If we raise $100,000, we'll hire two reporters: One covering theater, another covering real estate. Use a combination of paid digital advertising and individual outreach (sales) to target leaders in those communities for support. 3. Use more of your precious real estate and powerful megaphone to market yourself. From a content perspective, take readers behind the scenes with beat reporters to show how hard their jobs are and explain why it is worth paying for their expertise and knowledge. 4. Hold regular brainstorms across the business and editorial functions to come up with creative ways to get your news out. One paper in Arkansas, I believe, stopped printing the paper but gave all of its subscribers iPads. As long as they continued to subscribe, they got to keep the iPad. Brilliant. I want to congratulate my colleagues for executing this report so well: Michael Lev, Matt Mansfield, Mark Jacob and Jonathon Berlin. Read the executive summary below:
