|ITALIAN LIGHTING| – Olbia Terranova Railway Station – The lighting project of the new the new Olbia train station (Sardinia, Italy) has involved the new roadway adjacent to the station, the accesses and the platforms alongside the tracks. The access roads to the train station and the parking areas have been illuminated with LIT POLES by Cariboni Group in a double configuration with high-performance asymmetrical street optics, which made it possible to install the lighting fixtures at significant distance from each other. The same LIT POLES have been used also to illuminate the open platforms flanking the tracks, providing a continuous and uniform lighting. Instead, for the lighting of the station entrances and covered platforms has been used the TRAIL SOLID LINE system, specifically designed for mobility sites. The train graveyard on the outskirts of Thessaloniki, Greece, is a fascinating sight. Located in the suburb of Nea Ionia, this site is home to hundreds of railroad cars that have been standing abandoned on their railway sidings for decades. The Hellenic Railways Organisation (ΟΣΕ), Greece’s national rail company, has been trying to sell these decommissioned trains as scrap metal, but they remain in the graveyard, slowly rusting away. The site has a unique history, with the trains being left there since the 1980s. Over the years, the trains have been vandalized and have become a haven for scrap smugglers. Despite efforts to sell the trains, they remain in the graveyard, slowly being consumed by nature. The site is a reminder of the transience of human creations and the impact of economic and environmental factors on our world. #train #trains #greece #scrap #railways #railway #hellenic #thessaloniki #graveyard #divorcement #environmental

If you've been procrastinating, this is your sign! 😉 Please take the survey before it closes tomorrow and help save the trolley line to Selah! ❤️ 🚋 The survey is open to anyone, worldwide: https://lnkd.in/g3bPY4-N Observations about Concept 1: Preserves and restores the trolley line to Selah ✅ Keeps a center turn lane, which is good for traffic flow, safety, and access to local businesses ✅ Enhances the William O. Douglas trail ✅ Keeps the trolley aligned in the center of the street which provides separation between cars, trolleys, bikes, and pedestrians and is historically accurate ✅ Is most similar to the current configuration of the street ✅ Keeps the trolley system on track to become Yakima’s first National Historic Landmark—a boon for tourism and economic development Concept 2: ❌ Creates a potentially unsafe situation where the trolley goes against traffic in one direction ❌ Is the most costly option And Concept 3: ❌ Destroys the trolley line to Selah completely ❌ Ends forever the possibility of the trolleys becoming a National Historic Landmark
