Staff Networks Day’s Post

What an incredible day yesterday was! #RaisingTheBar indeed! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to lead two back-to-back workshops for the attendees of the first ever National Staff Networks Conference. What a turnout! I spoke about better ways to advocate for staff networks, including understanding why everyone isn't as passionate about DE&I as network reps are, and ultimately remembering that INCLUSION NEVER EXCLUDES. It might sound like a trite 'soundbite', but the reality is that those of us who are DE&I evangelists usually avoid engaging with those who are... lets say, "less committed" to the cause. It's those dissenting voices we need to seek out and engage with first, before speaking to those who we already know are on board and signed up to DE&I as an integral part of any business. It was such a delight joining an incredibly passionate, group of advocates, allies, presenters and keynote speakers at yesterday's Conference - a much-needed opportunity for networks from across industry to come together, share best practice and learn from one and other. I'm so grateful to the powerhouse that is Cherron Inko-Tariah MBE in particular, and the dream team of Rasheed Ogunlaru, Adam Sunderland, Bernadette T., Hermann Trepesch, Jerome Williams (He/His), Justin Placide - Co-Chair of The Civil Service Race Forum Melanie Holloway, Rob Neil OBE, Andreena Leeanne and everyone who made the day such a wonderful event. Thank you! PS - it's always a great day when you get to meet someone in person that you've been connected to and admired from afar for quite some time!
