I been looking for a job for over 3 weeks now, about to be a month. This is a very hard job market right now and very competitive. I understand jobs are being selective. I have done an application. Call the place & they tell me they are not hiring at the moment. But when they need me, they will get in contact. I can’t tell you how many places I have applied at. On indeed, linkedIn, & through-out google. The places that I have had interviews with, all specify that they are interviewing multiple people. At this point, I start to question if maybe I’m the issue in these interviews? Yet-I can speak clearly & answer the questions quite quickly because they are common knowledge. It is very frustrating & upsetting. Are these places actually hiring? 90% of them aren’t even getting back. Then the 10% that is- are being super selective & have supposedly multiple applicants. I had an interview today that specified that it was a sales role. But when I was explained the role- it was basically cold sales at Home Depot. Walking up to people & generating leads/sales. They asked if I was interested, I said I’ve actually done something like that before & I wasn’t interested in doing that. I did ask if they had any other jobs within their company. I’m still eager to work. Plus I looked up the company & they had great reviews. They said they may, maybe something in customer service & they will get back to me. “They will get back to me.” Something I’m honestly tired of hearing. Even if it sounds so genuine. A lot of the times, people don’t. I say I’m a hard worker. I don’t know if people think I’m just saying that to say that. I have had two jobs at a time- a few times actually. With my first year at T-Mobile I worked over 270 hours of overtime. Then the second year over 130 hours of overtime. I worked at 13 different locations because I was willing to try something different or work with different people. Plus help other locations when short-staffed. I am not recommending a professional who lost its job, or part of a layoff to tag it LinkedIn “Open to Works” or “open for job”. That's not a good strategy. Company does not look for someone “open to works”. They are looking for someone who can do the job and pay less. Then, it could be better to uptodate your resume and find the list of websites that give you the opportunity to send your resume or look for the company website and apply directly.
