Old thinking 👉🏼 job applicant sells themself to the employer New thinking 👉🏼 the employer sells themself to the applicant In the fitness industry, this is now truer than ever We’re seeing a worldwide shortage of HIGH QUALITY coaches, trainers and instructors With unprecedented levels of Pilates, cycling, strength and yoga studios opening, the supply of great people is not meeting the demand The best trainers will have no shortage of offers… So gyms and studios must SELL themselves to the very best, by: 1️⃣ Offering opportunities to learn and grow ↳ Can be proper certifications and courses ↳ Or coach-to-coach mentorships and internal workshops Personally, I love the internal learning as it helps build a stronger team vibe 2️⃣ Offering a proper framework and structure ↳ Comprehensive onboarding that sets them up for success ↳ Systems and processes that make sense The best trainers respect professionalism and structure 3️⃣ Doing exciting, impactful work ↳ Truly helping people get fitter, strong and healthier (isn’t this why we all got into the fitness industry?!) Of course, compensation is important too 💰 But, in my experience and opinion, it’s not the main reason A-players choose a work place Do you agree? How else can fitness studios hire A-players? Post topic inspired from a conversation with Kathleen Ferguson - check out her platform Coach360 for top trainer development and recruitment content and resources 👌🏼 #fitnessindustry #recruitment #management #fitnessbusiness #hiring

A lot of companies talk about how they hire "A-players." Am I the first to point out that this is obviously wrong? I was a multi-sport athlete in high school, and we never got letter grades for our performance. We got scores, points, times, rankings. "A" is a grade you get on an academic test. People playing a sport do not get letter grades. Stop the confusion. Nobody knows what you're talking about. Looking for "A-players" makes it look like you never went to school, or worse, never even played sports. If you want to kick it up a notch, hire "under-par players." And if you really want to send your business into overdrive... Simplify it a bit and just hire "players." This will attract people who are athletes and people who are thespians. You want talented thespians in your org along with the athletes, because pretending to be someone you're not is one of the most valuable skills in modern business. #FirmThoughts #APlayer #Thespian #Hiring #Recruiting #SAAS #HR #HumanResources #Sports

Hello Everyone! Currently, I'm transitioning from marketing to HR and with a solid foundation in marketing. My transition from marketing to HR stemmed from a desire for a more people-centric career path. While I enjoyed the creativity and strategy involved in marketing, I found myself drawn to the human aspect of organization such as their culture, development, and well-being. Moreover, my background in marketing provides a unique perspective, particularly in areas like employee engagement, employer branding, and talent acquisition, which are increasingly vital in today's competitive landscape. In order to support my transitioning, I've acquired HR knowledge from completing a boot camp program and actively participating in online webinar to gain more insight. I'm excited to blend my expertise and embark on a new journey in the HR field. Seeking opportunities to apply my diverse skill set and make a positive impact. Feel free to connect and message with me on LinkedIn. I'm open to discussing job opportunities in HR, sharing insights from my marketing background, or simply exchanging ideas. Looking forward to connecting with you! #careerswitch #opentowork #humanresources

It’s frustrating how many job posts spend more time touting perks and benefits than clearly outlining the actual job requirements. Sure, free lunches and gym memberships are appealing, but what about telling us what we actually need to do to thrive in the role? Too often, expectations are buried under buzzwords, leaving candidates guessing if they’re truly a fit. If companies want to attract the right talent, they need to be as upfront about the qualifications they need as they are about the perks they offer. #JobSearch #HiringTrends #ClearCommunication #TalentAcquisition #JobRequirements #CareerClarity #WorkplaceTransparency

Our LinkedIn Live about you having a better chance of winning the lottery than finding a job online certainly hit home. I have been inundated with feedback that people are not surprised by this; they are experiencing intense frustration trying to obtain employment and that online applying just does not work. We ran the calculations and found that you have a better chance of getting a winning lottery scratcher than applying for a job online. If you haven't seen it, you can download it on Spotify or watch it on my LinkedIn page. Thrive HR Consulting

🏅 Are Athletes Good Hires? 🏅 Have you ever hired an athlete? 🤔 From my experience at Erickson Search, athletes bring a unique set of skills to the workplace. Their discipline, resilience, and teamwork mentality make them well-suited for sales roles. Athletes know how to push through challenges, set goals, and work collaboratively—all traits highly valuable in any sales-driven environment. In fact, a survey by Ernst & Young found that 94% of women in C-suite positions played sports. This is a telling statistic on how the qualities honed through sports can translate into successful professional careers. The competitive edge, dedication, and focus that athletes develop is unparalleled. What do you think? Have you had positive experiences hiring athletes? Share your thoughts! 🌟 www.ericksonsearch.com #Hiring #Sales #Recruitment

What does HR need to learn from salespeople? Looking through potential jobs recently, I came across this as the benefit of working for a particular company. "We offer an exciting, fast-paced, and diverse working environment with employees of many different nationalities. We provide benefits to help you protect your health and financial security and give you peace of mind. We also invest in your career growth with development resources that give you the opportunity to stretch and shine." This tells me absolutely nothing other than whoever wrote this obviously doesn't really care about attracting new talent. Compare this to another company. "Hybrid working policy that suits your working preference Amazing colleagues to learn from and having a mentor you can turn to. Interactive employee training and a month-long onboarding experience to help you get started A clear career path with regular promotion tracks An education allowance up to €4,250 per year and a free books program so you can keep on learning. Unlimited paid vacation days on top of your annual 25 days paid time off Mental health coaching and sessions (Modern Health app) and other health benefits, i.e., Life Assurance, long-term illness cover, fitness reimbursement of up to €250" Here I can see what's on offer in specific terms rather than a generically vague "Join us. It'll be a grand" approach. Both jobs are sales roles, but only one is written in a way to attract attention and gain the best talent. Like sales, you have to be clear about the specifics of the role or product. You wouldn't tell a customer to buy your product, and I'll tell you the price later. Trust me, bro! A job ad says a lot about a company and how it will treat its employees. An ad that spends 90% of the copy talking about itself and what they expect their worker to do and 10% vaguely talking about its benefits gives off a "You work for us, be thankful" vibe. A company that posts an ad that is 50/50 about the role and the benefits has more of a "You work with us, and together we are better." feeling. This is how you gain attention and attract the right people. Which company do you think you would be more interested in? #jobs #recruitment #employees Photo by Cytonn Photography on Unsplash
