Prof. Dr. Vanberghen, affiliated with EUI in Florence, focuses on AI, DMA, DSA, and cybersecurity policy. Globally recognized by EEAS for G7 & G20 work. Senior expert with EC.
Sharing my personal perspective on Ukraine. Urgency is the name of the game here, also considering Europe's future, as emphasized by President Macron warning yesterday that Europe ‘can die’! In a major show of solidarity with Ukraine, the EU pledged a massive $54 billion package in February 2024 to bolster their fight against Russia. The US followed suit this week, with the House approving a momentous $60.8 billion aid package. NATO's role in the current crisis extends beyond direct defense. By strengthening its eastern flank with strategic force deployments and modernized infrastructure, the alliance acts as a powerful deterrent to further Russian aggression. However, a growing concern emerges: Russia's increasing reliance on China, Iran, & North Korea to sustain its war effort. We are witnessing the consolidation of interconnected strategic partnerships aimed at challenging the existing global order. This emerging axis necessitates a strong and united response from NATO & its allies. The US aid package itself offers a clear insight into the geopolitics of the Western world. Collectively, it offers a comprehensive perspective on how America and its key allies in Europe and Asia currently interpret global affairs. These funds are aimed at countering what General Cavoli refers to as the "adversary axis": Russia, China, Iran, & North Korea. The war in Ukraine has exposed a broader tectonic shift. Russia's reliance on China, Iran, & North Korea to sustain its campaign is a cause for concern, as these countries forge partnerships to challenge the existing global order. China has become a key player in this equation, supplying Russia with materials critical for weapons production. Additionally, China's recent pronouncements of "deep friendship" with North Korea, solidified by a high-level diplomatic visit, points towards a reassertion of the traditional alliance between these two nations. Beyond the raw financial commitment, Europe's ability to provide practical support to Ukraine is hampered by a crucial factor: our lack of a robust military-industrial base compared to the US. This is particularly evident in key capabilities like air defense, where Ukrainian forces heavily rely on American-produced equipment. After 35 years since the end of the Cold War, Europe's trajectory has veered away from our aspirations for lasting peace. The continent has been confronted with conflicts such as the Kosovo War & Ukraine War. Economic turmoil, compounded by the pandemic and security challenges, has laid bare significant gaps in Europe's crisis management capabilities. Our often reactive response to these challenges underscores the critical need for proactive measures to prevent conflicts and foster stability. I would conclude this post with a video from the Matrix featuring Neo asking 'guns, lots of guns.' It serves as a reminder of the war Zelensky faces. https://lnkd.in/eWXbRT6D

The purpose of this film is for Americans to relate to Ukrainians and understand that if we don't help Ukraine, it will only mean more war for us in the future. we must: 1) designate russia as a terrorist regime 2) demand the US provide modern advanced American weapons to Ukraine 3) lift all restrictions on American weapons so Ukraine can strike at russian military targets >>>please consider supporting my guys military units listed in description! https://lnkd.in/eECGHSKm

On 9/15/50 one of the most profound examples of maneuver warfare in history was conducted retaking the Korean peninsula from the June incursion of that year. One’s mind races considering how this could happen today from all the perspectives, military, political, logistical, media cycle. Given the evolving pan-Pacific threat how would we even plan let alone conduct such an operation. We wonder how the US Navy could construct the fleet that participated in the landing and then place the number of assault troops on land. One of the biggest asks is who would be responsible for understanding & planning the operations at the critical surf zone level? The Navy? The Army? This aspect will become a key pilar of the Army’s push to become relevant in any Littoral operations going forward. If these and other mission sets aren’t worked out, then instructions like this will be frequent and we are short of MacArthur type leaders. https://lnkd.in/gu4pp55z #flyingisntflightest #IFF #criticalops

2024-2032 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE ARMSTRONG 1ST WOMAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE:Geared towards Market Expansion
It is much better to discuss on which points you agree, others you are considering, many you don’t care for, and plans to avoid unnecessary conflict. While this is all true: China has grown much more aggressive in recent past. Taking Horendous actions towards areas that had agreed were free and not in their sphere of control; then instead using violent attacks against their own people. Discribing a Sea as a Personal or National Possession of Property Seems Radical and Absurd. Bottom Line why does China 🇨🇳 Appear to Desire Conflict with United States. Are their Rationals Logical or Unreasonable.?

Electric Warfare (EW) is a new and vitally important theatre of any modern conflict. I don’t usually repost any articles that come from a publication with the word “telegraph” in it, but this article gives an insightful overview of how important this new technology is to modern warfare.

HF communications systems have been packed with many expectations in the past years. Unfortunately, many products fail to meet the requirements of modern defence operations, being unreliable, slow, and challenging to use. That’s because most companies have been developing digital technology based on existing communications systems that were not designed for networked warfare in the first place. We have adopted a different approach. Learn how KNL’s radio technology overcomes the limitations given on defence communications systems: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g8fHzaKt #KNL #GetConnected #HF #DefenceCommunication #TacticalCommunication

Today, USCIS is publishing a temporary final rule that will make the automatic extension of EADs 540 days (it is 180 days right now). This is good news that will benefit a lot of people. But at the bottom of the email in which USCIS announces this new, helpful policy, it includes the quote below. Apparently, USCIS thinks that it needs to justify helpful policies by bragging about removals? Gross. "Since May 12, 2023 to March 13, 2024, DHS has removed or returned over 617,000 individuals, the vast majority of whom crossed the Southwest Border, including more than 97,000 individual family members. The majority of all individuals encountered at the southwest border over the past three years have been removed, returned, or expelled. Total removals and returns since mid-May exceed removals and returns in every full fiscal year since 2011."

Interesting how the upgrades for the F-22 aim to plug the gaps in capability while we await the NGAD. Is the Air Force signaling that it anticipates serious delays on the NGAD? What are your thoughts on this endeavor? https://lnkd.in/e4vyMP5Z
