Are you a company looking to employee Ex Military Personnel? 🎖 Here is why you should hire ex military personnel: It’s no secret that military veterans make excellent employees, but it’s often difficult for employers to understand why. There are many reasons why veterans are a great fit for any company, some of which include being able to thrive under pressure, delivering against tight deadlines, and an ability to cope with change. There are many advantages of hiring veterans; here are just a few. As a serving or ex-member of the Armed Forces, you’ll know that the military is much more than just a job. It’s your family, your work and something that defines you as a person. But, as everyone knows, a career in the military doesn’t last a lifetime. You might have decided to join the Armed Forces at a young age, when your experience and confidence were still developing. It might have been your first taste of work and/or living away from home. Think about how much you have grown since you joined. You would have developed a number of key skills, many technical in nature, but also capabilities in areas such as teamwork, self-management and punctuality, and characteristics like resilience and determination. These are the sorts of attributes that employers in the civilian sphere admire, and many are already starting to see the benefits of employing veterans. If you are a company that is looking to hire ex military employees and need help then look no further than the team at First Military Recruitment. We are here to support veterans into employment within the civilian world and put them into a role that will allow them to thrive. Transitioning from military service to the civilian workforce can be challenging, but your military experience is a great asset if framed correctly on a resume. Here are some quick tips for service members and military spouses when building your resume: 🌟 1. Translate Your Competencies into Civilian Terms Avoid Military Jargon: Civilian employers may not understand military acronyms, ranks, or terms. Translate your skills and experiences into plain language. 💡 Example: Instead of "Platoon Sergeant," say "Team Leader/Supervisor." Instead of "Conducted air assault operations," say "Led complex logistical and operational planning." 🌟 2. Highlight Transferable Skills Many skills gained in the military, such as leadership, teamwork, discipline, problem-solving, and decision-making, are highly valuable in the civilian workforce. 💡 Example: Emphasize skills like "Project Management," "Leadership of Cross-functional Teams," "Crisis Management," and "Risk Assessment." 🌟 3. Quantify Your Achievements Use metrics to show the impact of your work. This helps employers see the tangible value you bring. 💡 Example: "Managed a team of 20 personnel, reducing response time by 30% during crisis situations."
