On March 24, 1989 the oil tanker Exxon Valdez ran aground in Prince William Sound, Alaska, spilling 11 million gallons of oil 🛳 The incident took place when the oil tanker, owned by the Exxon Shipping Company, ran aground on Bligh Reef during its voyage to California. 🌊 It is important to note that the Exxon Valdez oil spill had a significant impact on environmental policies and practices, leading to increased awareness and stricter regulations to prevent and respond to oil spills. #maritime #maritimenews #maritimeindustry #shipping #marinetechnology #maritimeinnovation #oceantransportation #portsandterminals #marineengineering #maritimelogistics #maritimetrade #navalarchitecture #seafarers #maritimesafety #oceanography #maritimelaw #marineenvironment #maritimeeducation #maritimehistory #shipbuilding #maritimeeconomics #maritimesecurity #cruiseshipdepartures #thrustercontrol #maritimemastery #journeyofdiscovery #passionforthesea #safetransit #securitymeasure #safety #safetyfirst #safetyfirstalways #safetymatters #personalsafety #boardship #maritimeoperations #trade #globaltrade #shippingindustry #maritimemysteries #supply #supplychain #logistics #crew #protocols #humansatsea #saillife #seafarer #lifeatsea #merchantnavy #sailorlife #climatechange #environment #sustainability #nature #globalwarming #savetheplanet #climate #climateaction #nature #actonclimate #earth #gogreen #piracy #ship #vessel #weather #accident #port #unsafe #danger #dangerous #storm #stormy #breaking #viral #viralvideo

The #InteroceanicCorridor, a regional development program that covers 79 municipalities, 33 in the state of #Veracruz and 46 in the state of #Oaxaca, sits at the top of #Mexico's development policy agenda. The visit that President #LópezObrador and President-elect #Sheinbaum made to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec aboard the #InteroceanicTrain last weekend and the ongoing investments (including roads, rehabilitation of Pemex #petrochemical plants and transport of #naturalgas) hints that, for the incoming government, this initiative/region will continue to be a priority. I am pleased to share the latest news from the maritime industry. Shipowners have recently submitted their initial bids for Poland's planned Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) newbuilding. This development signifies a significant step forward in Poland's energy diversification efforts and its commitment to reducing dependency on pipeline gas imports. The FSRU, a crucial component of the country's long-term energy strategy, will provide Poland with increased flexibility in managing its natural gas supply, contributing to energy security and economic stability. For more details on this development, please visit the following link: [Link] What are your thoughts on this strategic move by Poland? How do you see it impacting the global maritime industry? #MaritimeIndustry #EnergyDiversification

🌊It was my pleasure to support an All-Party Parliamentary Group meeting for the Celtic Sea in Westminster today on behalf of the UK’s underwater industry. Thank you Selaine Saxby for the invitation. 🌊 🌊As with many similar meetings I’ve attended over the last two decades, there is no shortage of willingness and commitment from industry, stakeholders and local (Southwest) coastal communities to see the rewards of the OSW/FLOW agenda manifested in real economic benefit. The size of the prize has changed significantly but the ask of government, lack of investor confidence amidst policy inconsistencies and reluctance to pick winners has not. The UK’s subsea supply chain is world leading and will continue to play a pivotal role in delivering energy security, jobs and investment. However, inconsistency and lack of sequential decisions - at the right time - will hinder our ability to increase capacity and provide additional investment into regions like the Southwest where capability and experience is required. The UK underwater supply chain has choices and it would be an unfathomable lost opportunity were we to lose investment to alternative markets. There is such clear interdependency between ports, manufacturing, innovation, surface, and subsurface operations across offshore energy/subsea installation. (This also extends to the protection of critical underwater infrastructure against the backdrop of geopolitical instability which also needs increasing focus). High time for government to be bold and finally help industrialise/protect and grow what is so clearly in the national interest on so many fronts. 🌊 #FLOW #underwaterindustry #worldleading #globalunderwaterhub

Amidst the spotlight on Shell's appeal in the South African Supreme Court, it's crucial to pause and reflect on the broader role of courts and laws in climate action and environmental protection as follows: · Legislative Frameworks: Establishing standards for pollution control, resource management, and conservation. · International Law and Treaties: Providing frameworks for global cooperation on environmental issues. · Enforcement: Ensuring compliance with environmental laws through penalties, injunctions, and remediation orders. Judicial review of government decisions also ensures adherence to environmental laws and procedural requirements. · Public Interest Litigation: Empowering citizens and organizations to advocate for environmental protection. Setting Precedents: Shaping future policies, regulations, and industry practices through judicial judgments #AceLitigator #Climatelitigation #Environmentalprotection #biodiversity
