How the CFM56 (on A320 & 737) Came From the B-1 Bomber's Engine; the powerplant of the B-1, is the GE F101. The engine core used by GE & Safran (CFM) as the base for the CFM56. The F101 design was also used as a basis for the F110 engine, used in the; F-14, F-15 & F-16. Essentialy, the CFM56 is the F101 engine's core + a high-bypass fan on front (no afterburner on the back, of course)... something to think about, next time we go flying... Boeing 737 NG Market Values increased again after review by Cirium Ascend's Value Review Board. The changes are driven by airline demand for immediate lift as well as the increasing value of the CFM56-7B engines. This means increases of up to 30% for the oldest vintages of the 737-800 but minimal changes for those younger than 12 years old. Market Lease Rates also increased by 2-9% for the -800, supported by both lease extensions and lease placements with new customers.
