#Ageing is NOT Linear… Researchers assessed many thousands of different molecules in people from age 25 to 75, as well as their microbiomes — the bacteria, viruses and fungi that live inside us and on our skin — and found that the abundance of most molecules and microbes do not shift in a gradual, chronological fashion. Rather, we undergo two periods of rapid change during our life span, averaging around age 44 and age 60. I am so proud of my PhD student Andreas Kirknaes Faerk for successfully presenting the first exciting results from our randomized, controlled trial of cognitive rehabilitation in multiple sclerosis at this year's ECTRIMS congress. The results are perfectly aligned with the trajectory of the MS research. We need to investigate methods for improving or delaying worsening of symptoms that affect so many patients and severely impact the quality of life and personal independence. With a focus on #alzheimersdisease, this paper paints a highly compelling argument for the need to change the way we approach neurodegenerative diseases.
