Stanislava Mladenova, PhD’s Post

It is my pleasure to contribute to the Eunomia Journal for the Civil Affairs Association about the unique and increasingly important role of veterans in humanitarian and development roles. Veteran Recruiting International Non-Governmental Organizations, or as I coin them VRINGOs, who provide humanitarian and development assistance in conflict or crisis settings, bring invaluable skills to these complex settings. They can also serve as “agents of convergence,” in fragile settings, and the civil-military relationship, putting under question the notion of what is purely “civilian” or purely “military.” Is this hybrid skillset the way of the future? In the fog of war, who is military, humanitarian, development, or non-state actor? #veterans #civilmilitary #conflict #humanitarian #dod #humanitariancrisis #humanitarian #humanitarianefforts #humanitarianwork #securitycooperation #civilaffairs #sof #specialforces #mondaythoughts #article #military #ngo #fragile states #resiliance

Stanislava Mladenova, PhD thanks for sharing this, and I’m glad it popped up in a search I ran today! Does your research touch much on veterans in traditional development companies? Quita Keller and Amanda Hough - we were just talking about the Civil Affairs community and I think you’d find this of interest!
