Responsive launch operations look to becoming the “norn” for smaller launch vehicles. Personally I see Responsive Launch as the Unique Selling Point (USP) for smaller launch vehicles. Using the “bus” versus “taxi/uber” analogy: If heavy-launch is the regularly scheduled, cheap ride-share to a close-enough destination option, then light-launch needs to be the option that gets you exactly where you need to be and able to be summoned at short notice, at the time you need to be there. Just back from Atlanta seeing the Hermeus Quarterhorse Mk1 release. - Mk1 will test "high speed" flight, burn down risk for supersonic flight with Mk2 next year. - Mk2 surprise announcement now uses F100 as the base engine for the combined-cycle propulsion system. Pratt and Whitney apparently closely collaborating. - Love seeing hardware, but the thing to watch is process: how teams manage the many coupled variables in hypersonic design. Design changes to moldline, propulsion, inlet, GNC, all affect each other. How do you iterate fast when making these integrated systems? Who owns design reqs, and how are they managed?

The Osprey is the world's first production tiltrotor aircraft, with one three-bladed proprotor, turboshaft engine, and transmission nacelle mounted on each wingtip. It is classified as a powered lift aircraft by the Federal Aviation Administration. For takeoff and landing, it typically operates as a helicopter with the nacelles vertical and rotors horizontal. Once airborne, the nacelles rotate forward 90° in as little as 12 seconds for horizontal flight, converting the V-22 to a more fuel-efficient, higher-speed aircraft, like a turboprop aircraft.  STOL rolling-takeoff and landing capability is achieved by having the nacelles tilted forward up to 45°.Other orientations are possible. Pilots describe the V-22 in airplane mode as comparable to the C-130 in feel and speed. It has a ferry range of over 2,100 nmi. Its operational range is 1,100 nmi.[108] Composite materials make up 43% of the airframe, and the proprotor blades also use composites. For storage, the V-22's rotors fold in 90 seconds and its wing rotates to align, front-to-back, with the fuselage. Because of the requirement for folding rotors, their 38-foot (11.6 m) diameter is 5 feet (1.5 m) less than would be optimal for an aircraft of this size to conduct vertical takeoff, resulting in high disk loading. Most missions use fixed wing flight 75% or more of the time, reducing wear and tear and operational costs. This fixed wing flight is higher than typical helicopter missions allowing longer range line-of-sight communications for improved command and control.

A while ago, I was asked for again why I am not posting about what I do publicly. And the answer was because I and later we were forced to conduct our work in stealth mode. But that ended last year at SmallSat2023, when we Fox2Space had its coming out. I showed our prototypes, and right then and there had customers waiting. Then I said, OK, I can't talk yet, because we need a welcoming environment to scale up Fox2Space. Well, a month ago that changed, too. Now I can finally start talking about what I have been working on for the past 4 years, about Fox2Space and Adaptive Avionics and the great team behind it. Last year, we had prototypes, today we have first ready-to-fly hardware even for CubeSats. In the coming years, we will fundamentally change how critical systems are designed, and how missions are conducted, from the Icy Moons to the deep ocean, from your car to your powerplant and your pacemaker. For me and Fox2Space both, this is A Step Into a New Frontier... For All Mankind.
