1.3 million solar panels. 465MW, that��s enough to power 160,000 homes and offset 600,000 tons of greenhouse gases. The scale of this project's huge. We're about two hours southeast of Calgary at the Travers Solar project, which is Canada's largest solar facility. So we did all of the AC, DC electrical design, all of the power studies that you need to make sure that the power��s of the right quality. So it's 3000 football fields in footprint, so there's 75km of roads, there's 280km of cables underneath the ground, and the civil grading, the stormwater, the scale of the civil lift for this was huge. Then we also gave construction support. So, if anything came up on site or if any materials needed to be approved, they would reach back to our team and we would respond. We worked for PCL. We've done a lot of other solar facilities with PCL in the region so we had a good relationship. And so we felt comfortable going in with them for a project of this scale. Beacon is a digital tool that was created by Stantec that helped us design the Travers Solar Facility. If you look at the panels, they're on piles and the pile at the very top of the pile, you have to have an x, y, and z coordinate which positions it in space. And you need that for the whole site. So there were 220,000 piles that had to have x, y, z coordinates. And the beacon tool is able to calculate that within minutes so you can make adjustments on the site as you go. The Beacon tool helped us because it minimized earthworks, decreased construction costs, and made sure that we were the most efficient for getting energy from the site. The DC design was done in Montreal, the AC design was in Edmonton, Lethbridge did the civil design. We had people in Halifax, we had studies out of Ontario. We had some of our management was in Vancouver. So we've worked that way for a long time and I think that's one of the unique things we can do. I'm really proud especially for this to happen out of Alberta to have Canada's largest solar facility. My background's in oil and gas, so I'm really excited to be on the energy transition side and the power side of that. Very fulfilling. My teenagers thought I was super cool when I said I was working on renewables.

Chart of the week: The US utility-scale renewable industry is expected to smash new installation records again this year, according to the latest research by Rystad Energy. More than 18 gigawatts (GW) of new onshore wind, solar and batteries has been installed through the first six months of the year, up 70% over 2023.
